Karl Oloapu

Didn't someone speak to his sister at the Christmas party and she said he is on track to be back?

Posters sister said she saw his name on a squad list at the Xmas party. Oloapu wasn’t actually there though.

A lot of why Oloapu was ahead of other 19yo's when we picked him up was because he seemed like he was fairly strong for his age IMO. He wasn't outstanding in the NRL but he didn't look out of place either.

I'm not sure how much of his strength dropped away with the neck rehab. But I'd say the first stage is rebuilding the physique that was his platform. After that I couldn't say what the next stages are. But like Xerri, he's had enough time out of the game. If he's ready to play I reserve grade, he'll have to prove himself there first. Quite possible that he'll take a while yet to get back on course.

Rumours i have seen about he may be leaving have been weird and surely just b.s.Wtf would he leave the Dogs? Anyway assuming thats all total horseshit I would have thought his rehab would be a 6 month thing maybe a bit longer but I have nothing to reference this to, does anyone recall how long Minichello was off the field for?

Would be BS

I started a rumour on Twitter about the Broncos & it was posted on here as fact. :tearsofjoy:

Minichello missed about eight weeks of football after having a three-hour key hole operation to repair a herniated disc.

KO op was heaps worse & he would have been in a neck brace for several months.

So nobody knows it he has resumed full training yet ay

Yeah that was me. Was in reference to my sister sending a pic of his name on one of the player tables. That was at the members Xmas party. I posted it to just say he was still at the club, as the rumour was that he had left.

I really hope he comes back strong. He can rotate with Mann in the lock position back end of 25 and take over starting 13 in 26

Haven't seen pics on field or in Gym or with noise cancelling headphones :tonguewink:
Still, plenty of other lads haven't made the celebrity pics either.

It's gonna crank into gear in the New Year - guess we'll know soon enough.

NRL 2024: Forgotten Bulldogs young gun Karl Oloapu medically cleared to intensify training ahead of NRL return

Almost forgotten amid Canterbury’s charge towards their first final series in eight years, Karl Oloapu has received some massive news ahead of his comeback from career-saving spinal surgery.

Bulldogs prodigy Karl Oloapu has taken a giant stride towards playing rugby league again.

The talented teenager has been medically cleared to intensify his training in preparation to make his comeback next season.

Almost forgotten amid Canterbury’s charge towards their first final series in eight years, Oloapu is on the comeback trail from career-saving spinal surgery.

Rated one of the brightest football talents to emerge from Queensland in years, Oloapu had his burgeoning career shattered when told he required surgery last December.

The 19-year-old took counsel from former Roosters champion Anthony Minichiello, who had major back issues throughout his own stunning career, before receiving the operation.

With the procedure described as a rousing success by Dr Mark Winder, one of Australia’s leading neurosurgeons, the Bulldogs rising star underwent a six-month follow-up appointment, only a fortnight ago.

Contracted at the Dogs until the end of 2026, Oloapu was told that there were no signs of any ongoing issues and also advised that he could increase his training load.

Capable of playing in the halves or at lock, Oloapu played seven NRL games in 2023 with the Dogs.

It’s anticipated that Oloapu will aim to commence full contact with the rest of the Canterbury squad when 2025 pre-season training begins in November.

This is the last full detail report that I have seen, it says no signs of ongoing issues, cleared for training 1/9/24 with full contact from 1/11/24. I haven't made it to a training session this preseason so I can't say if he has been involved in the limited full contact so far. Let's see what happens in the new year, only 9 days to go.

Cheers, Thanks for the update

Na, going raiders. We are swapping him for Thompson and paying a extra 100k.

So you signed up 5 minutes ago and have been told he is gone.
By who(their name please)and why(be specific please)
By another fan of the club who has reliable information. Anthonymacca on twitter.

Surely you asked;
Why?
How?
When?
To Where?

Just “he’s gone” is not something anyone would accept.

Team First

absolutely. However if you read where I say “ I have nothing back this up” kind of answers your question

I’m told he’s gone. I have nothing to back it up with. Really hoping he isn’t though.
This sounds like a Telecrap headline…have you been studying at the Buzz Rothfield school of Journalism

Truth be told, there have been a lot of whispers about Karl leaving the club ...

Where there is smoke there is fire?
