21 is a good 3 years of "showing" what he can do.

You cant expect players (especially FB) to be 24 or 25 before you thrust them into first grade....theyll only get 5 yeaes out of the game.

Im not writing him off, im just saying at 21, he would have shown by now what he can provide in that position. I hope he gets a chance next year at some stage. We can then make a call on whether he is worth pursuing.

Its not a bad tactic to ease such players on the wing. Turbo did it for a couple of years before claiming the FB spot for Manly. Mini did it too.
A half at 21 is very different to, say, a back rower at 21, NRL halves need NRL game time, their role in an NRL team is complex and takes time to learn. There are very good reasons why Gould set up the "Bulldogs Halves Academy" very early in his tenor.

Yes his season was cruelled by Injury but for him to feature in the future he needs to be more consistent in Cup. I can see he has the talent but does he have the commitment needed to make the next step. Tracey will be good for us next year after a full preseason... But yes he is no spring chicken he is 28 and 29 next year. Same age as Dylan Edwards.... but we don't need to pull the trigger on this yet. Lets see how Joash goes and if his performances in Cup demand him get a look in then we can re-assess. But unless we get a Half Back in the off season our spine should start next year how it ended this year.

i think he was injured for a big part of the season (business end) if im correct. but in saying that we have tracey now and last yr we were so desperate and hopeful that we wouldnt have the next immortal (purple Hayze) as fullback that anyone who wasnt him was the next best thinghaving tracey changes that a lot and he has been great..

And to the wanker that suggested gutho go suck some nuts and stop being so immature, we dont need that negativity in our lives lol... hes been in the top 8 as many times as we have in recent yrs i believe lmfao... also we already have someone waving their hands around in the air causing a commotion in our games his name is the reff... hahaha

He is also one of the best footy brains in the game, next to DCE.

And footy brains is what our team lacks the most.

He is slowing down, no doubt. But can take a bomb better than any other FB, can dummy half run like Tedesco and one if the better support players in the middle.

If Shane Flanagan is looking at him when he has Sloane already there, then its obvious there are people out there that see what i see.....
if hes so smart why the fuck is he collecting dust at parra? lol

So what does the club do with Taafe and Hutchison? Playing them in NSW Cup only hinders the development of our juniors IMO. Maybe we should be tapping them on the shoulder as well as Sutton & Kautoga as they clearly have no futures with us

Ron Massey for their final year would be my choice, Gus will keep them as depth even though they are at the bottom of most people's depth charts. Quite literally just place holders for a year until the juniors are ready.

I hope we get to see Tia and O'Neill as the NSW Cup halves. No point keeping those two if you are going to play them in Ron Massey Cup. They'd be better off going to the Super League

They are required for their experience, in the pre season, in the dressing rooms and during the games. Experience is our biggest missing piece, young team with a low number of NRL games. Having a few experienced players, used to NRL games week in week out, mentally and physically aware of what it takes and able to pass that on.

Wilson fullback could play but nah would give Joash a go before taffe.

Wilson is a winger and a great winger I never knew how fast he can be good on the kid

Agree but one more year as mentors with the juniors in reggies would help them so much in the transition to NRL.

Joash won't go to Eels they just signed that Panthers junior fullback, Longi I think is his name and King Gutho is still there.
