What are you talking about? We purchased the best prop in the world and got Lafai and 35 year old Blake Green back

Cause we certainly ain’t moving around like a club with a war chest
Who's off contact we could target? I'm disappointed we didn't go hard for D Fifita but then again he obviously wanted to stay in Qld. Look around. At the start of this season there wasn't that many choice players available for 2021. We tried to get Bateman but he's going home.
The war chest is useless if there isn't talent available to justify paying top dollar for specialist spine players. We will try get B Smith if C Smith plays on for Storm but we will be one of many chasing him.
So who exactly are you talking about that we should be chasing?

These threads are just an excuse to criticize the board IMO. They'll keep or lose their jobs based on the results on the field at the next election.

Even if we had 5 million to spend, the fact is that each or at least most clubs have money set aside to bolster certain positions, whether that's in the halves forwards or backline. We might have money available to buy 3-4 great players. But for every one of these desired players, at least one other club will have money to entice them, probably more than a few clubs in reality for 99% of players we chase. Our board faces a balancing act. Do they splash money at great players in positions that aren't crucial (someone like Fifita) to keep the complaints at bay or do they try to recruit astutely and have coin there when players in crucial positions become available. As much as Fifita would have been a nice acquisition, the Titans will suffer in other areas for buying a second rower for in excess of a million (if the media are close to the mark). Green represents a gamble. If he's able to get fit and guide the team while our young halves develop, it'll pay off. I doubt he's on huge money anyway. Cotric will serve us well for at least three years, so it's one good signing, Thompson will come good and Green is a gamnle. None of us know who else we'll sign yet. A few people might have inside knowledge, but even then it only takes a moment for a player to change their mind about where they'll play.

I just think people need to chill out and see how the recruitment plays out. Ranting will not accomplish anything. I read a quote somewhere about having the courage to change what you can change, the patience to accept what you can't change and the wisdom to recognise the difference between them. Unfortunately many people in here don't possess either the patience or wisdom.

There is no use using the war chest unless it is for marquee signings.

Everyone else we need to develop. He is the only big money signing I'd make of the current players available. (800k+)

Brandon Smith is a myth. Grant is the real deal and has performed at the Tigers, Smith is unproven outside of the Storm system.

Brandon Smith has smoked the much vaunted Kangaroos side on a couple occasions in a non Storm jersey (higher level international)

Far from a myth

Young Harry did fk all tonight v Panthers
