We've got heaps up our sleeve.
Brandon Smith won't come cheap.
Also because we have the smell of desperation about us managers will demand overs.
By “heaps” I gather you’re referring to Graeme Hughes???
The $3m war chest by 2021 was a smoke & mirrors thrown out to appease disillusioned Dogs supporters & buy this administration some time. Well it’s time to deliver. The problem being this admin should have had a 3 year plan, with not just player recruitment/ targets but a succession plan post Pay as he was never the long term saviour.
Disappointingly when you fail to plan, you plan to fail & make decisions on the run.
Case in point:
Mass sackings of the incumbent coaching staff with 7 rounds remaining, we won’t win another game nor will players or staff give their best for the remainder of this nightmare 2020 season.

Missing out on the signature of Holbrook 12 months ago instead choosing to extend the Pay agony by 12months:- simply dumb & poor management decision making.

Massive”overs” offers rejected by the managements of Papalii & TPJ.

As yet, no improvement to our most glaring spine weaknesses with a dwindling “war chest”
Hopefully someone within the administration had nous to sign McInnes NOW that Hunt will be the Dragons rake.

The atrocious handling of the Pt Macquarie incident by the absence of commentary by the GM of Football & our CEO backing the wrong horse by supporting the NRLs decision to deregister the contracts of “the 2” by cancelling their contracts. As we know both players were vindicated by the NRL Appeals Tribunal. The Club’s best player chose not to be reinstated but play for a premiership contender.

At the moment, we have so many plodders on rockstar contracts DWZ,Napa, Jackson & now Thompson, throw in R Smith eating up the best part of $3.5m!!!!!

I trust Barrett recruits his coaching/conditioning personnel shrewdly as he really has a monumental situation to fix.

But alas,
success BEGINS at the front office..........

The money they all talked about at the start of the year is before any signings. Since then we have resigned a number of players as well as signing Cotric and Thompson.
Everyone who thinks just because the club has money that means next year we are a top 4 side needs to have a panadol and a lie down. Next year will be more competitive but we are still 2-3 years from premiership contention.
We need a half - no quality halves on the market for next year
We need a hooker - no quality hookers on the market for next year (May change depends on cam smith)
We need a fullback - no quality fullbacks on the market

The worst thing the club can do is rush out and sign more average players to spend the money and risk not having it available should someone pop into the market in the off season or early next year.

Barrett needs to come in and focus the off season on defence. Get that right first and then see where that leaves us in attack. The we can look to sign players to fill the gap or improve our attack.
Sorry guys we are not competing for a premiership in three years. Be lucky to win one again at this rate.

We've been run by clowns whether it was Dibsaster fucking the club with his idiotic deals and sackings

Now out of depth Lynne is calling the shots. It's unbelievably shocking that a club with our resources, wealth, property etc is being run by the most incompetent people.

People going mad at this Green signing, if hes fit for next season its clever business , he costs very little and means we have money in the cap to buy other positions. We was never going to get 2 top quality halfbacks but Green is very solid, if we bring a youngster like Burton in also, Green could be a perfect partner for him. This also saves us money to maybe go big at a 9 like B.Smith and still have money to afford both a Staines and Burton etc

He should be back for round 1. So yeah if we buy another half to go alongside him, it is clever business as he costs next to nothing

The Newcastle blueprint was secure some of the best young talent coming through and some guns e.g. Ponga, Klemmer, Ese Ese, Watson, Shibasaki, Mann, Bailey etc. and watch the flowers bloom. They have been a team on the rise.

Barrett’s first move, a 34yo journeymen....

F### me.... who signs off on this sh!t, our recruitment has been disgraceful for years.

The war chest is probably a myth now. Because the morons in the board decided to resign almost the entire wooden spoon and "the world's best prop" without choosing a coach first. Who does that serioulsy. Who decided on who to sign without having a coach. Is this even possible. You couldn't make this shit up.

So let me get this straight. The board got elected over 2 years ago. They knew 2021 was our year. So they had over 2 years to plan for 2021. Then they wait till July of 2020 before choosing a coach. In the meantime they go off and make a bunch of signings and resignings without a coach. Maybe the coach doesn't want Thompson or Cotric. Maybe he didn't want to resign Lewis or Jackson. These are just examples of players that signed/resigned without any input from Barrett.

Maybe Barrett doesn't want any of these players because his the one that decides how the team plays. Maybe the above don't suit the style he wants to play. So how the fuck can you make a single signing let alone filling up an entire squad without the coach's input. If I was Barrett id be fucking fuming right now.

A message for Lynne and Hill the fuckwits. You have zero football knowledge. So someone answer me this. How the fuck do you justify travelling to the other side of the world and signing Thompson on mega bucks without asking your coach for the 2021 season first. You fucking morons.
Cause we certainly ain’t moving around like a club with a war chest

I'd say the quality of spine players off contract this year is pretty poor. But overall the quality of players in other positions is quiet good. TPJ, JDB, jesse bronwich, JAC, tamou just to name a few. Why not spend a bit of the "war chest" on any of these players.
Having a war chest is one thing, but if the shelves are empty, what is the point... The quality of players that are off contract this year is pretty poor...

The only one I'd consider good in that lot is Bromwich and he will be 32 next year. JDB is going to court on serious charges, regardless of his guilt.., TPJ has not been released by broncos, and JAC is yet another winger wanting to play fullback..
