Used to bomb red rattlers back in the 90s. 3.30 Central to Ashfield station. Fk now I’m an old man.
A coupled set of P Class cars. All the older trams could be coupled into pairs. The newer corridor cars couldn't - because they didn't have the platforms along the outside for the conductors to jump from car to car.View attachment 33777

A Mortdale set. The cream lining above and below the windows was a nice feature of the old steel, and timber cars.
Not the overhead is the same as railway catenary, not tramway wiring. The intention was to upgrade the line to US Interurban style trains - but it never happened. Similar overhead was used experimentally between Hurlstone Park and Summer Hill.View attachment 33812

Manly ferry Burra Bra requisitioned by the Royal Australian Navy, during WWII, and commissioned as HMAS Burra Bra.
