Next few announcements need to be b Smith, burton, Staines and hopefully Leniu. Any order will do!
Leniu would be an awesome get. But you think Penrith let Tamou go and keep the young kid.

It’s good to see someone care about the club enough that they are willing to take a huge risk to try and fix it, knowing that if it goes wrong, it’ll be the end of his career.

The board could learn a thing or two from Barrett.

So far Barrett has done the right things since signing on as our coach for 2021. He calls players that he wants to keep at our club, he's starting to let go some of our dead wood such as Tolman and Holland, fingers crossed more to come though, and he comes out to support his decision to sign for the Bulldogs and just makes Gus look like a bitter old clown for telling him to stay clear from us last night... hopefully some more good things to come our way from our new coach but so far I'm impressed, so keep it up Trent! Up the mighty BULLDOGS!!!

Trent Barrett is adamant he is "100 per cent committed" to coaching Canterbury despite Phil Gould urging the incoming coach to reconsider due to political instability at the club.

The Bulldogs trumpeted the signing of Barrett as Dean Pay’s replacement until the end of 2023, but there are concerns that the former Manly coach could again be the victim of factionalism. Barrett left the Sea Eagles on bad terms and the opportunity at Canterbury could be his last as a head coach if he fails to perform.
Gould warned Barrett that the blue and whites had become a “toxic mess” and believes he would be better off remaining at Penrith as an assistant to Ivan Cleary.

However, Barrett said he will be at the helm of the "family club" next year.
"[I'm] One hundred per cent committed," Barrett told the Herald. "[Bulldogs CEO] Andrew Hill and the board have been nothing but supportive and very professional.

"I'm all in and looking forward to it."

Barrett's manager, Wayne Beavis, also reiterated that Barrett was "one million per cent" committed to the role.

“It’s never been an issue,” Beavis said.

Gould, however, warned Barrett that he was better off opting out of the Bulldogs job.
“I'm sure that Trent Barrett doesn't know what he's getting himself into and if I was associated with Trent Barrett in any way, shape or form I think I'd be advising him to reconsider his decision," Gould told Nine's 100% Footy.

"I just think this is going to deteriorate into a real mess in the coming weeks, and I just can't see a way out,” Gould said.

“I think it's just too much for him to take on at this time, given what happened to him at Manly, and given that his next NRL appointment is very, very important
He's in a really good club at the moment at the Panthers, he's got a great role and is doing a tremendous job. I'd be nearly inclined to decline it and go back to where he is and just wait a little bit more time because the Bulldogs is an absolute mess. Behind the scenes it is a toxic mess."
The relationship between Bulldogs chairman Lynne Anderson and Canterbury Leagues Club chairman George Coorey has deteriorated, sparking fears of unrest at Belmore. Coorey, 61, has been the subject of complaints by several women who have alleged he made inappropriate comments to them. Fellow board members have called for him to at least stand down while there is an inquiry, however his backers say he has nothing to answer for and have turned their anger towards Anderson, to whom the complaints were first made.

In a joint letter to members, Anderson and Hill said that leagues club funding had ceased providing the football club its monthly grants in March due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“It is fantastic to be able to report that the football club has come through an incredibly challenging COVID-19 period in a strong position, and are on target to post a healthy profit on our 2020 profit and loss,” Hill and Anderson said in the letter.

“In what has been a tough challenge for all businesses, we have managed to navigate the landscape through early action, careful planning and budgetary constraint to protect the long-term viability of the club.
“It needs to be stated that our monthly grant from the Canterbury League Club stopped in March by mutual decision. The League Club stopped trading at that point and had to undergo its own operational review.

“Both clubs have worked closely together through these challenging times, and are stronger for it. This meant that as a football club we have had to operate with no grant in recent months, so it is great to be able to report that we are on track for a surplus this year, despite the challenging situation we found ourselves in.”

He said last night that he wanted the guy to see out the season but the Penrith Board said Hook had to go asap.
Fairenough but I think Gould planted the seed. They never spoke for months

One should never burn the club or employer that made you and/or gave you that chance to start a career... The Bulldogs gave Gus his chance at coaching and fortunately for him we had a team that brought him a premiership and gave him the reputation that goes with that kind of success.

With respect, f#ck off Gus.

That’s why they invented mute buttons on remote controls so we don’t have listen to the crap that Gus consistently spews out. Was the reason I never listened to 9’s coverage of the State Of Origin. Loved listening to Roy @ HG while watching. They weren’t only entertaining but knew their stuff when commentating. Far more enjoyable than listening to a bloke who loves the sound of his own voice. Gus in the commentary “No, No, No, No, No”.

Watch the fat slug say "see I told you he should take the job" when we become successful again.

Well apparently he brokered the deal so... he has an angle to those comments.. and he said if he was involved with Baz in anyway... mate they know each other very well. There was a motive behind what he said he doesn’t truely want Baz to pull out and knows that would make him look silly.

Great drop... on the rocks or neat?
Neat, no ice.

Back in the early 1970s, I went into a small West Highland pub and ordered a scotch and dry - the place went silent; then a huge fist slammed down on the counter and a heavy, gravelly voice said " Yer dinna put anythin' in yer Whusky, but Whusky!" I've had it neat ever since.

The CX Cask is my favourite, but I can only afford that duty free; and I haven't hosted any overseas tours for a year now. Alberto, the barman in the Zurich hotel I stay at, serves it to me with a glass of water and small pieces of 80-90% dark chocolate. The chocolate is to melt on your tongue, then the water to rinse the chocolate from your mouth - now your taste buds are ready to appreciate the whisky.
