He was never suited to the middle and said it when we signed him but everyone was jerking themselves silly because he beefed with JWH. If he can't make the backrow position his own then we need to move him on.
Averillo wants Jack as Captain.

I personally can see big Jack excelling in the second row. He is big and mobile and would be devastating running wide. Jack on one side and TPJ on the other.
Getting him out of the middle will also help with his brain explosions to a point.
What do you lot think?
I rhink this is the general consensus on here tbh. TPJ can play in the middle or the back row, depending on how the team lines up.

Can't believe I'm commenting on "guns"...but Jacko's are better and much more defined.
Marley have you got a poster(or screensaver)of Jake? I'm worried..

We’re 1 from 1 with Hetho in the back row.

He seemed to perform better there last year and he's one of the quickest if not the fastest forward in the comp so yes he should specialise on an edge. His pace is wasted as a middle.

I reckon Baz will start with Hetho and TPJ on the edges, with Vaughan, Thommo, Patolo, Ava and Jackson sharing the middle. My concern with that is the lack of off-loading through the middle to Dufty and Avo, but there's no reason why TPJ can't get in there at times.

Hetho's defensive technique will be a risk anywhere but he could run amok if he gets quality ball out wide. Patolo developing into a quality prop this year would be outstanding for the balance of our team, especially from '23. Also Topine developing into our long term lock would be great.

He's definitely better suited out wide. But I don't think he's an 80 minute second rower either. He'd need a spell or is probably better suited off the bench and then to come on and play on an edge after 30 minutes..

I totally agree with Hethrington in the back row, however I would also play Thompson on the other edge, they both appear to be fast and good ball runners.
Also because TPJ appears more suitable in the middle for me.

Hard training will fix that

In my opinion Thompson's running style is more suited to lock
The only reason he will not be there is Jackson isn't suited anywhere else

With Vaughan as the alpha prop replacing Napa who didn't even rate as an omicron prop, Thompson will operate very successfully as the running prop as he did at St Helens with Walmsley as the alpha prop. That's why signing Vaughan was very important and if he does the job in 2022 then he will be here for a long time, his age not withstanding.

Always a Bulldog
