Has Barrett already given up for 2022?

I am beginning to think Barrett has already given up and is treating 2022 like a trial season. What should we expect to get out of the rest of this year?

To win enough games to avoid the wooden spoon. Baz won't be here in 23 if this trajectory continues. He can't pull the sacrificing results short term for long term success card either. It's already too late for that after some of his selections he's already made this year and last year. 2 steps backwards and 1 step forward coach.

He's showing his inexperience as a coach. We could easily be 3/4 , we were in all 3 games prior to the storm demolition. If he had stuck to his guns and kept Averillo who trained all off season at halfback, he wouldn't be under this much pressure.

Picking a different halfback every 2 weeks is fucking ridiculous.
What's more ridiculous is that Wakeham and Averillo have been given ample time and chances to prove themselves but can't take their game to another level.

What is Barrett meant to do other than give Flanagan his opportunity due to being in form in reserves? He has given Barrett no other option and good on Flanno for forcing Barrett to pick him. It's now his chance to cement his spot and like the other two should be doing, take accountability.

Seriously, how about people look at individuals and see that they hold their futures in their own hands rather than pointing the finger where sometimes isn't warranted.

Barrett, in the presser, mentions that we lacked the ability to apply pressure. Now, going by that his game plan was to put the ball in goal for repeat sets, not score off every play, against Melbourne you have to be patient. No Dogs player was able to follow this plan so again, it's about accountability and the onus is on individuals in key roles 6,7 & 9 to make this happen. It didn't happen.

So now, Barrett is the problem for making changes to try and get our attack going?

OMFG!!!!

Definitely think he has given up of making any serious dent this year so he is trying to find the best combination for 2023 and that's it. Where we finish on the ladder now is irrelevant. We played last week like a team deserving of the spoon. Melbourne weren't that amazing. They scored a couple of lucky tries. We should have iced at least 1 or 2 and not made some really poor plays in attack. In any event I think Melbourne were at least 18 points better than us on paper.

Barrett’s desperate for wins. Otherwise his coaching career is over for good

Melbourne were at full strength last week and were very good. They will win the comp barring major injuries

What did Barrett learn about Avo and Wakeham in the last 2 games that he didn’t learn from the last 2 years?

Gus keeps going on about Baz leaving no stone unturned in his preparation, his communication to the team is great etc

Then why can’t he get his players to buy into him? This roster (which is pretty decent) or the rabble from last year all looked and look lost on his coaching philosophies

There’s only one thing barrett can do to salvage a potential top 8 spot this year and that’s move burton to 7 and let him run the show. We would be so much better

There's no top 8 this year for us. You can scrap that immediately. Our season is already done, it's just a matter if we get the wooden spoon or not. Unless the club sacks Baz and brings in Shane Flanagan (which they won't do during the season anyways). Then maybe we can finish a little higher up the table.
