Burton was languishing in reserve grade at the time while the vastly inferior Tyrone May got first grade game time. The only reason Burton was there tonight was injury.
Burton played tonight because he was picked as the best man for it. They had specialist-centre Crichton in the side who was pushed out to wing, and Naden as 18th man.

Yes, but he didn’t start the year there, did he? If not for injury, he’d never have gotten his opportunity. He was being wasted when Laundy made those comments.

Cleary came to his senses. Burton was outstanding tonight and hasn't looked out of place even at centre.
No denying he has been outstanding, but let’s not forget the only reason he got the opportunity was through injury.

Hope we don’t get any injuries to our million man back line forcing Barrett to put burton into centre. Cause he is the only decent half we got at the club. The rest are straight up embarrassing as first graders

Best two teams made the big dance. Who do you think deserved it more? Melbourne who played worse than either team after Penrith stuck it to them last week and can’t handle an arm wrestle, one man team manly or the bunch of also rans who didn’t get close to the level of either grand finalist all year?

Say what you will about the quality of the game, either tesm would have been a deserving winner and anyone who says otherwise is just being salty.
Cannot bot disagree with what you say.

Taking the attacking coach away from Penrith in 2021 really hurry them didn’t it?

They just replayed Burton chasing the kick and taking Paulo into touch. We all know he is special but just the way he timed it and could put on the speed on tap to get there at exactly the right time in such a pressure environment, the kid’s just a natural footy player. Can’t wait for him to put our famous colours on.
Should have been Clive Churchill medallist

It a Myth that assistantmake much of a difference, it's the head coach.
Ivan has done a great job at Penrith.

Not sure I’ve seen a better kicking game in a grand final than Clearys last night. To constantly land them a meter from in goal, when a bit longer changes the game completely

The Souths love fest from the Ch 9 commentators was a bit sickening. The way they praised the Bunnies at the end of the game, and consoled their fans for the loss was a contrast to how they talked about us after the Bunnies won the GF in 2014. That was just another Bunnies love fest. They were allowed to run on first, and have that bell rung- and the ref picked up the vibe of the day.

What is it with the untouchable Bunnies? Aren't you allowed to say anything good about their opponents?

Even Gould last night was cheering Souths on. Must have had a big falling out with Penrith.
