'GIANT' DOGS ON THE UP
The Bulldogs are delighted with the progress of two giant brothers coming through the grades.

Itula and Fanafou Seve, aged 17 and 19 respectively, both play in the front row and are both on track for top 30 spots in the coming years if they continue to develop.

The pair each weighs over 110 kilos - and are still growing!

They are local juniors - Itula is captain of the Harold Matts team and Fanafou is a standout for the SG Ball.

Yeah, Gus is doing a great job with developing programs and identifying young talent.

The next stage is fitting the right ones into the top 30 squad when they are ready and not losing the players we need to other clubs.

I can't wait to see some of these pups in FG but the club won't rush them which is the right thing to do. With our dominance in juniors these days, we could be a premiership contender every season once a handful of them make FG

It’s hard to single out 1 or 2 kids in particular from that line up. Watching them live I think a huge chunk of that team will have a similar impact at flegg level next year. You have some really
good players like Jed Reardon (Steve’s son) who couldn’t make the 17 would probably start at a most other clubs

Love him or hate him, Gus coming to this club saved it, If the death riders and haters had gotten what they wanted we would have been a bottom two club for the foreseeable future, consistent success isn't coming quick enough for some. but at least now its coming. If you are not a fan of what Gus is doing at the club you're not really a Bulldogs fan IMO.

I loved Steve Reardon back in the day. Was as tough as they come and was one of many really underrated no name forwards that we had that added so much to the team.

So lucky to have Kikau setting the standards of what a professional looks like in the forwards.

Effort areas, controlled aggression with and without the ball, second phase play, and genuine leadership qualities.

Gus picking the 17 every week helps out too

The effect of Kikau's kick chase became really evident in jun reps after first grade season started - players emulating the "big boys" in the club.

There is far mor quality across the squads than has been the case for over a decade - there have been players like Wakeham Topine Talau Averillo etc who all showed different qualities through jun reps that were encouraging - difference now is that all squads have a number of players that stand out regularly - two in particular - Woods n Seve have shown they can turn games and dominate parts of games at this level - looking forward to seeing what they can do at the next level.
