so I just got an email from electricity provider that I'm going from a smart meter to a digital one, are those any good or should I opt out and stay with the current one

Smart meters are digital are they not, haven’t seen anything new. You definitely had a smart meter?

Do you still get people coming and checking it, if so it’s not a smart meters.

You have solar panels?
yh they still get checked but I assume with the digital one it won't be, and nah I live in an apartment

Then you don’t have a smart meter, the smart meter connects to your supplier using the mobile network and doesn’t require manual checking.

Are they better, yes because the info is accurate and checked daily.

Utilities have the ability to log into smart meters and can load shed if required. Have heard of this happening in Qld when big power consumption days, and grid not being up to spec, residents had there air cons turned off remotely
