Just an observation from the last few weeks but if we're going to really challenge this comp for a sustained period we're one or two key signings away from being a real threat.

Sure this side has proven we can make the eight but can our middles match it with the bigger packs like the Storm, Panthers, Roosters and even Manly when push comes to shove?

If we could somehow sign RCG and Leo Thompson our pack would suddenly look very intimidating. Given we went hard for Stefano let's assume Gus knows we're lacking in this department and there's gotta be cap space there.

Fantasy land but imagine this pack:

8. RCG
9. Mahoney
10. Thompson
11. Preston
12. Kikau
13. Mann

Bench: King, Hughes, Tupouniua, Salmon

In my opinion, that's a forward pack that can match it with the best of the best.

Thoughts?

Chemistry / complementing each others game is important for front rowers. Perfect example is JFH and Leota, I don't think RCG and Thompson would complement each other at all

Yeah interesting. I could see Kikau and Thompson getting along but RCG? Not sure how he’d fit in…
I guess Reed Mahoney would be the one to ask…

Where's Curran? You can throw Hayes in there somewhere.
Looks like we need one top shelf prop
Salmon will, should be lucky to make NSW Cup

With Thompson, King & Curran as our main 3 props I think that we can win a title.
Curran can only get better as prop after being used mainly in that area with King out.
Some tips off the Ogre and others over the off season will see him blossom
This year was just bash and barge without the other skills of a good prop.

Dammit! I was writing it and knew I’d forget someone. Curran in/Salmon out.

Publicly they seem to give the impression they have no intention of addressing this issue. Probably our biggest issue.

Hopefully privately, it's a different story.

I think it’s a bad look for any club to explicitly state weakness in any area of the game publicly. Would detract from team morale and cause friction with the coach and front office imo

I’m tipping big Liam Knight to have a fantastic 2025. Just get Danika to hold out on him for a few days before games Gussy.

I think there is a lot of belief in our current crop of forwards coming through juniors in Todd, Underhill, Hopoi and even Seve a lil later on. Obviously if a Leo Thompson type of player becomes available it would be a good move to sign them. But if even one of these guys work out it makes thing far easier from a salary perspective. Plus I think with a full off season to get used to his role Hayes can become a consistently solid bench piece
