So apparently Dominic Young is in the sights of the roosters. How the fuk can the roosters afford to sign him with their star studded backline? This guy on the open market will command 500-500k. Seriously and we are meant to have asalary cap. the roosters will probably sign him for 350K . this is why the NRL needs to assign a market value on each player to stop teams like the roosters always signing the best players for way under the salary cap. the NRL are pathetic allowing the roosters and teams like the storm paying players way under their market value.

The Sydney Roosters have reportedly rolled out the red carpet as they look to secure Newcastle Knights winger Dominic Young as a five-way battle for the star’s services looms.

According to theDaily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield, who discussed the report on Big Sports Breakfast, Young paid a visit to Roosters coach Trent Robinson’s house for a meal last week.

Prior to Young’s dinner with Robinson, the England international’s manager, Mario Tartak, caught up with Roosters owner Nick Politis for coffee.

The heavy courting from the Bondi outfit has the team likely leading the race to sign Young, who is off-contract at the end of the season.

Other clubs in the mix for the 21-year-old are the Dolphins, the Titans, the Bulldogs and the Rabbitohs, with Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett and the Bulldogs’ Phil Gould showing the youngster around their respective clubs’ facilities.

Young is expected to make a decision on his next team before the 2023 NRL season commences.

I've been of the opinion that if one team can offer say $500,000 for a player, another team shouldn't even be able to make an offer unless it's within 1-2% of the same value under the cap. So if a club struggling for talent has a half million for Young, the roosters who clearly aren't would have to offer at least $490,000 and not this bullshit of $400,000 cos they love playing golf with uncle Nick.

Unless such rules get bought in the salary cap won't ever be more than a joke.

I doubt it happens but if the Roosters want to spend that much money on their backline, then let them. They aren't winning shit with their pack being so mediocre.

If they sign Young, they must be resigned to Suaalii going to Rugby

Daniel Tupou (32) and JWH (35) are retiring at the end of this season. They are also off-contract and Suaalii will be next to leave.

and Baz isn't getting the sack and we're also not negotiating with Ciraldo.
“Just for information of Bulldogs fans — despite constant media speculation, Bulldogs do not have any pending offers out for players on market to join club in 2023 or 2024,” Gould tweeted.

“No offers. We'd like to let things settle for a while and see how our youngsters perform. Thank you.”

if you believe what Gould says then you are very gullible...this is all about keeping the media at bay.....as of he is not after a quality prop for 2024 and potentially a halfback
