RFM is at the stage where he has to constantly perform or we cut bait. He is still too inconsistent and injury prone for my liking but hopefully he takes that next step this year.

It's always a numbers game - scout talent, develop it and then try to retain it and you face the exact same challenge when they are juniors.

Being able to attract the best young players, such as Piakura, if definitely a positive sign for our club and these young guys do want to play together - It feels like our share price has gone up and there is a buy recommendation!! It really seems like players and their managers want to do business with us. You only have to look at the sad predicament Wests are now in to appreciate we are finally rebuilding.

Whilst we need to chase good players in every position, these days there is a production line of backrowers, so the acquisition and retention focus (which has been lacking for years) must be on spine players.

As we have found out the hard way with Thurston and Cook, retaining just one superstar spine player is the best chance you have of winning a competition.

Agree 100%. Keeping juniors coming through in a Salary Cap era is an absolute must. It is impossible to fit 30 gun players into a roster. Keep building from the bottom up with good foresight scouting and succession planning.

They used to be the best but a few of the clubs have caught up and overtaken us now. Broncos, Raiders and Panthers leave us for dead and we are probably the best of the rest but the likes of North Queensland, Newcastle, Cronulla and Manly have training bases under construction
