No way is he worth that kind of money, if he was as great as he thinks he is, he wouldn't still be looking for a contract for next year.
He wants to stay at the Storm who will probably offer what he's currently on which is 500k, he's just waiting out for a desperate club that needs to change their attitude/culture to snatch him up on overs. He's worth what a top team is willing to pay him. The Panthers bought Tamou for reportedly 700k a few years ago and they would of roughly been the same age (and Finucane is better now than what Tamou was back then). Someone will pay it.

We were shit in 2013 (6th) and 2014 (7th).

Cooper Cronk probably has the best winning percentage

Countless minor premierships

GF appearances Storm 06,07,08,09,12,16,17

Roosters - 18,19

He won triple GFs in 17,18 and 19

The only years he didn't make the Grand final starting from his debut in 2004 was in 2004,2005,2010(Salary Cap) 2011, 2013,2014 and 2015.

What a record.
Sorry bud

I meant of current players - would he have the best winning record.

I think J Bromwhich who's the last remaining member of the 2012 storm GF team just pips him by a couple of games, mainly because he played in 2013 and 2014 storm team who won more games than us but Finucane has 1 more GF (2014) appearances than Bromwhich. It's ridiculous how storm have been able to build a completely different squad since 2012 and are still contenders today whilst we've been stuck in rebuild mode for 5 years.

Good call.

I was actually thinking of long serving members of that squad and his name completely escaped me.

We probably paid $600k or more to resign Elliott another Barrett dud decision ,hasn’t shown any interest all season
He played ok when he had a bleeding nose in the trial. That was it.

If Finucane comes back to Dogs. He won’t get $800,000 a season. Josh Jackson only gets $700,00 and he’s the captain!

Why not offer rep experience players like Dale the following..650 - 550 - 400 3 yrs plus option on 4th pending performances and games played in top grade in 3rd year must play 90% of games to grab bonus in contract.. no back end rather the opposite As our Younger guys come up we have the older ones value diminish unless they prove their value on bonus performances and games played..

Because he's going to get close to 500k flat at the Storm, that offer wouldn't be enticing.

Side note - Would Finucane have the games best winning percentage right now?

Considering he was with us in "peak" years (2012-2014) - and Melbourne since....

I would imagine he would have a ~60% percentage record.
It's 70.95%
Us 62.12%
Them 75%

Front loading (which is what that is) isn’t allowed either.

Plus $200k of whatever Jackson gets in the Cap is also the Veteran and Developed Player allowance.

With apologies to @utility half I would actually prefer Finucane over Elliott. If there was one legit complaint with Dale when he was in the blue and white it was his error and penalty rate. It seemed like he dropped one and gave one away every game, at times and game situations when it was really noticeable.

He was given time to reduce this, but kept doing it, so he was let go. Sometimes a change of club is good for a player in that they discover that it isn't something they want to do too often, and it provides motivation to fix the issues that have been pointed out to them. The other major advantage for Dale is that Bellamy worked with him.

We really needed Elliott to figure out how to cut out some of the errors and penalties before we re-signed him. How things have changed since 2014...

Can you be sure Finucane wouldn't regress after going from a highly functioning top tier team to a struggling one where he will be under so much pressure? I can't.....don't get me wrong, I'd welcome finucane if he wants to come back....and it wouldn't be a bad thing for the careers of Elliott and a number of other players if they ended up elsewhere. But I don't think what we do with the cheque book will matter if our footy department doesn't have a clear and cohesive vision. We can buy whomever we want, our fortunes won't change until we change our structures and ultimately rebuild our junior nursery. It's gonna be a long haul.

Given the farcical nature of the current product, I'm not sure I really care what we do. Even if the club is fixed the NRL will still be broken.
