News Curtis Scott arrested after Moore Park incident

Sounds like the cabbie wouldn't take him home, so he has thrown the phone at it. Then realised he wasn't going anywhere and crashed asleep under the tree. Cabbie calls police...police find him crashed out and try and wake him. (roughly?) and he has lashed out.

That’s more or less as I’ve heard it but they woke him because he was trespassing on trust grounds and wasn’t allowed to sleep there (it’s private property, not public). Lashing out is I’m told a bit of an understatement and hence why the taser had to be used.
The NRL have seen the footage and are awaiting some additional information before they speak publicly. And his lawyer who initially fiercely defended him is now gone. Where there’s smoke...

In the old days if you carried on like a fuckwit on the piss you’d apologise and own it ,not the youth of today bunch of entitled fuckheads

Not to excuse his behaviour, he acted like a complete f***wit but in the old days players got away with a lot more and it never made the press or the courts.

The shit that Freddy, Joey, Matt Johns etc would get away with was insane. They were complete druggies and alcoholics who would go on massive benders..

If they played in the social media age, and if there was footage of the shit they did, they would have been totally fucked.

Mike Whitney (cricket) said exactly the same recently - that camera phones and social media would’ve stuffed many a career in the 80’s and 90’s. Maybe the only difference between then and now is the desire to share...

Exactly mate. They were protected very well. Look at all the controversy Joey having one pill made & all the shit he ended up confessing to.
On a side note I know the guy who tipped off the media on Joey. All for $200. He’s a complete fuckwit named Brad who constantly posts anti league comments on the daily telegraph

Haha. He didn't get full value for his info!

Remember when Freddy beat up a cab driver and the photo of him being completely shitfaced at like 10am? Like you said, because he was a protected species and it was back then, nothing happened...

People were far less outraged then and social media now just amplifies the public outcry for some punishment to be handed down..

That’s right mate. Lockyer got away with shit too. Mitchell Pearce would be dirty

probably not a bad thing tbh his other lawyer was making matters worse with his carry on towards the NRL

Story by Adrian Proszenko:

The NRL is likely to make a call on the immediate playing future of Curtis Scott on Wednesday.
Scott faces seven police charges after a drunken night out during the Australia Day weekend, although the alleged offences aren’t serious enough for him to be automatically suspended under the game’s ‘no fault’ stand-down rule.

NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg has the final say on whether Scott is allowed to play before the court case is finalised and will hand down his decision after seeing all relevant footage of the incident.
“We will have to wait until the powers that be make a decision,” said Scott’s lawyer, Sam Macedone. “I’ve had a meeting with Todd Greenberg and we’ve discussed the matter. I’ve given him my views and he’s obviously got his views."
“At the end of the day, it’s ultimately his decision. Whatever he decides, that’s what is going to happen. We had a pretty good discussion and covered everything that needs to be covered.
"His job at the end of the day is to protect the NRL brand and reputation. There is a bar that is set and if you cross that bar, you are in trouble. If you don’t cross that bar, you’ll be all right.”
Asked if Scott had fallen short of the bar, Macedone said: “That’s my argument, I’m here to argue exactly that. Hopefully the NRL sees it that way.”

Scott was allowed to play in the Raiders’ trial win over Canterbury on Saturday night, but Greenberg’s decision will affect his availability for the competition proper. The Green Machine hope he will fill the void left by the departures of outside backs Joey Leilua and Jordan Rapana.

Cleared to play.

Under the stand down rules in place it's fair enough.

Yep. Court case will be interesting though. He’s facing 7 charges and they aren’t trivial ones either.

So many of us cant stand the crooks of the daily tele.
Then its about a player from another club and not ours.
And everyone takes it as gospel. Im confused a bit.

I know it is the Mole but still.....

The NRL has cleared Canberra bad boy Curtis Scott to play at the start of the new season next week, despite having a serious court case hanging over his head.

Scott, who joined the Raiders after parting company with Melbourne over the summer, faces seven police charges after an alleged wild night on the drink on the Australia Day weekend.

The young centre was tasered after allegedly assaulting police and the courts will decide his fate in coming months.

But the alleged offences aren't serious enough for Scott to be automatically outed from playing under the game's 'no fault' stand-down rule.

The NRL is expected to make a statement on Scott's availability for round one later today.

The move is certain to anger fans of other clubs whose players have been stood down for similar offences.

Scott has a long history of problems off the field, some of which have allegedly been swept under the rug by officials.

**UPDATE: After The Mole broke the story, the Canberra Raiders issued the below statement confirming that Scott was available to play.

Toddy has seen the vid clip and must have decided Scott is innocent.

Case closed.

Cops to be charged by DPP next week ;)

Letting Curtis Scott play is 100% BS, completely wrong and here's why;

1. The NRL policy on no fault stand owns says "the criminal offences that apply to this rule are serious offences with a maximum jail term of 11 years or more"
Source https://www.nrl.com/news/2019/02/28/arl-commission-to-announce-new-policy-for-player-misbehaviour/

2. "A charge of assaulting a police officer in their execution of duty carries a maximum penalty of 14 years imprisonment"
Source; https://www.armstronglegal.com.au/criminal-law/offences/assault/police/

3. No one but the Courts should be determining guilt or innocence, "the CEO stressed it was not a judgement on his guilt or innocence"
Source https://www.nrl.com/news/2019/02/28/arl-commission-to-announce-new-policy-for-player-misbehaviour/

4. Last time I checked 14 was more than 11.

According to the NRL published policy he should be stood down, it's that simple.

Go Dogs
