Watching some stuff on India last night pretty horrific, they were saying 1 of every 2 people in callcuta were testing positive alone.
Yeah, its bloody awful. It is also highlighting the rich/poor divide, when you see millionaire cricketers continuing in with the IPL as if nothing is happening...

But good on Pat Cummins. Hope others follow suit to help out in some way to the Country that is giving them so much...

The vaccine needed a world wide even roll out .
The concerning thing is this shit will cycle around India for years to come ,hopefully it don't create some super viruses that sets the entire world back
1.5 billion population tho. Wow how do you get that under control.

Their Govt have a lot to answer for tho.
Apparently they were offering vaccine to PNG last week.

It will eventually get under control but not without killing many people making many more sick and more mutant strains.

It’s true the cricketers are continuing but you could also say it’s important for sports to continue because it gives the common people something to enjoy in these dark times.

As for wealth inequality - the biggest source of this divide has been government Lockdowns around the world which increased the wealth of the worlds wealthiest ppl and made the worlds poor significantly poorer.

So if anyone is against wealth inequality, technically they should also be against government lockdowns.

How
What day we up to brother?
As a guess my man.. I think it has been 43 Days without a local transmission of Covid-19 in NSW.. The date was the 21st of March 2021.. An overseas traveller gave it to a Security guard at the Sofitel Wentworth Hotel.. The security guard accquired it after a second follow up test. It was the B1.1.7 variant which is 40-80%% more transferable..

Please correct me if I’m wrong..:kissingheart:

VENTING CONCERNS
The adviser responsible for reviewing Australia’s quarantine system, former health department secretary Jane Halton, has recommended every hotel in use be re-assessed for the risk of aerosol transmission, with Guardian Australia noting Perth’s Mercure Perth hotel was deemed “high risk” ahead of this month’s outbreak due to poor ventilation. The Western Australian government yesterday announced it would shut the Mercure and two other hotels due to poor ventilation.

Elsewhere, The New Daily reports that ACTU assistant secretary Liam O’Brien has called on Health Minister Greg Hunt to urgently immunise thousands of aged and disability care staff. While the government had planned to fully vaccinate all 678,000 high-risk workers and care residents in Phase 1a, O’Brien notes current figures include less than 10% of workers, some of whom have gone to GPs rather than the schedule’s in-reach workplace program.

The news comes ahead of a World Trade Organisation meeting tomorrow over India and South Africa’s push to suspend vaccine patent rights until after the pandemic, which is supported by more than 115 countries but, as Croakey explains, is opposed by the Morrison government along with seven other richer nations.

PS: After recording its deadliest day ever, India’s official death toll has surged past 200,000.
