OFFICIAL | PRE-GAME Bulldogs vs Dragons @ jubilee stadium - 8th March 5.30pm

tbf we were very ordinary in the Broncos trial game. just hope we don't go into the season with hayward salmon and morrin on the bench for round 1
The barge over Broncs try against Hayward and Taafe :fearscream:

We will be right we will bounce back and beat the dragons easy trials are nothing ciradio will have us pumped up for round 1

Curran's tackle on Bronco Jack Gosiewski in the closing minutes of Saturday's clash in Redcliffe saw him sent to the sin bin and facing a one-game ban with an early guilty plea. Should Curran challenge the charge and be found guilty at the judiciary he would miss two matches.

Curran's teammate Max King will be fined $1000 if he enters an early guilty plea to a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle charge.

Team Work

I don't read too much into the trials. But I am hoping that we expand on our first team and mix it up by blooding a few young players like Todd and Fifita. Even Zane whatever his name is tough guy. If Sitilli's injured then throw in Zane and give him a go. Theres enough experienced players around him. Or if Amones not ready throw in Fifita. The idea this year is to take it to the next level and build a strong set of forwards.

The team should eventually have Todd and Sitili when he’s fit. With their inclusions and taking Hayes/Morrin and Hayward out, we’ll be much better. That won’t be rd1 though by the looks.

It looks like Ciraldo's plan is the same as last season.
Just tough out games and with a bit of luck scrape a win.
It was three tries each with 10 minutes to go on Saturday. Bulldogs were still in it.
Broncos only skipped away in the last 10 because they had so many more fresh subs.

The Saint George game will probably be similar.

Ciraldo will continue to choose bench players who best know & follow the 'system'. Salmon, Morrin, Hayward & Hayes.
He considers this to be more important than size or ability to break a tackle.
Even Sitili is not an automatic selection when fit because he hasn't enough experience with the 'system'. Salmon does.

You touched on one massive reason why trials shouldn’t be taken too seriously, interchanges and reserve numbers. It depends on the game but usually there are heaps of reserves that get chopped and changed, because coaches can for trials.

This is why I don’t get how some people act like it’s a normal game lol. When interchanges are limited and you only have 17 players, it’s completely different. One of our strengths is resilience and fitness, which is irrelevant in those conditions, because the opposition can just make as many interchanges as they want.

He’s not copping all the heat.
but he was definitely the worst of our so called “stars” that’s why Cirro left him out there.

Bullshit. What did Critta or Kiks do? Bupkiss that’s what. Ciro clearly had a plan because when has Burton ever kicked so little? As for leaving him on, it wasn’t necessarily because he thought he was shit. Could have simply been to get some minutes with Tia and O’Neill.

Anyway I’m sick to death of the hate boner a group on here get over him. Clearly they’re jealous af of the kid.

I don’t buy the theory that we didn’t take it seriously. These boys have been doing nothing but training and this was a chance to actually get out there and blow off some cobwebs.

Whether it’s a trial or not. If you turn up in any sport at any level with the mindset of going through the motions. Play soft to not get hurt etc. This is when you will get hurt.

That being said. I think the Broncos are better than most. So we have played a quality opponent. We were miles off the pace though.

Errors are the key problem with the trial loss. Although unless we address the size issue in the middle to start the season. This year might be a reality check for everyone.

You serious? If they just went through the motions they’d have been flogged. As it was, the score was 30-14 or something. 6 tries to 3. Big woop. Did you see the Roosters yesterday or Tits first trial?! Now that would be something to worry about. But Tits were completely different and improved in their second trial.

Get it downgraded.. was just standing there and didn't initiate the contact

Zero utterly zero chance. You do not take that risk. We won't have the bloke for 2 weeks if we do. People have to get it through their very thick skulls as players...do not go near the head. If you don't you can't be suspended, and as a result hurt your team. If you get binned, you ren't not serving a week they have tightened what is needed to be binned (higher degree) as it is. This means hopefully less bins this season, but if you do, expect a suspension the next week. So long as this is consistently applied I don't have an issue with it

Yep agreed mate but there were still some things that wont be sorted by Round 1.

1. Connor dropping bombs
2. Us not contesting bombs (I hate when we just stand there. Surely at least one player can contest the ball)
3. Montoya looking very slow on the wing

I am actually okay with no1, if a FB drops it, that's footy it happens. What I won't stomach as a fan is no2, have a go, and try and catch it, if you make an error that's ok but if you don't go for it and they score from it...I'll lose it. Colour me shocked on Montoya, I'm hardly shocked. Very average signing still don't get it

Montoya, 138 run metres (only Preston ran more), 35 post contact metres, 5 tackle breaks (the most), under 3 seconds play the ball speed (3rd fastest) and zero, zilch, SFA errors. It looked to me like the Donkeys avoided kicking to him, otherwise his metres would have been even higher.

Doesn't seem like too bad a first game back with us to me.
