OFFICIAL | PRE-GAME Bulldogs vs Dragons @ jubilee stadium - 8th March 5.30pm

Considering how safety first Ciraldo is it's absolutely mad that we haven't addressed our goal kicking situation. Swear Burton just gets a free pass for everything.
This actually grinds my gears..
He started pretty poor/average and in 2023 had a huge year (better than cleary) with the conversions then last year absolutely digressed.

It's frustrating when we are not an attacking focused team (yet hopefully) and then when we do get a try, he misses them so often. Such wasted points.
People will "oh well then maybe he improves again this year? He has enough to improve and appears to struggle with improvement.
So who then?

Started out average like burton but only improved from what he had.

In Burton's defence, we scored by far the least % of tries down the middle of the park last year. Only 7% whilst most teams are up above 20%. I'd say he's kicking closer to his 2023 average if this evened out.

Burto will come good it’s a trail hopefully we can see him and sexton attack the line more the systems are in place for defence nothing should change… Now they can focus on attacking the line

Doesn't help that a big % of our tries seem to be next to the side line and noticeable that when guys "could" come in closer to the sticks they don't try and improve the position.

Is it true rumours were dogs are unfit or was it just a trial and nothing to worry about

that makes it MORE important to have an above 85% goalkicker

Yep agreed mate but there were still some things that wont be sorted by Round 1.

1. Connor dropping bombs
2. Us not contesting bombs (I hate when we just stand there. Surely at least one player can contest the ball)
3. Montoya looking very slow on the wing

I'm not overly confidant in either of our fullback options under the high ball to be honest. Both look uncomfortable or not natural in my opinion.

Defending contested kicks has become a problem dating back to last season ..... cost us dearly in the semi against Manly. How often does a leaping fullback /winger actually make a clean catch? Commentary team suggested St George will have taken notice.

Regarding us not contesting bombs .... it is a tactic on our part, we want the ball in play without stoppages for as long as possible. .... a game of attrition.

Monty was solid and produced decent stats, but he is definitely no speedster.
