graham murray had a sand pit for the player who missed the most tackles , he would spend the training session in it tackling.. was that bullying as well...
I know back in early 2000s at the Wahs , Any player that was late or didn’t follow Daniel Anderson instructions would go in the sand pit and Feka Paleasina would run full speed at them and he if ANDO thought Feka was taking it easy he would keep going until he was satisfied or if the player was on the ground in agony

Built them different back then

Soft kants now

Mason has said a lot of things. He's also a member of staff, of course he will push Gus' narrative.
Mason nd Reni was having a go at the Dogs a few years ago. he said the exact same thing then. Said when you were at the Dogs you trained hard. If you couldn't take it you weren't a bulldog, and they needed to get back to that. he is not pushing anyone's narrative other than his own and to suggest that he would you don't have a clue.

Not sure what the big deal is, ‘loser leaves the company’ matches used to be a big thing back in the WWF days.

The whole line that the player couldn’t handle the punishment of wrestling 12 players because he’s soft is exactly the traction the media trolls are looking for to throw shit at the dogs

IF the story is true, it mentions the player has been dealing with personal mental health issues.

Maybe we don’t automatically jump to the immediate meat head assumption that the player is just using that as an excuse (“having a sook”) cos that line of thinking is one of the reasons people don’t seek help and succumb to the black dog.

i mean, don't come to training late *shrugs* get rid of all of them that aren't there on time, and aren't willing to put the work in. Unless he broke some sort of CBA that im not aware of, its about time these guys were put through the wringer. They're clearly still not fit enough

A lot of players in the squad lack mental toughness. It shows in their attitude to defense, where they just give up easily and let the opposition pile on points.
Well it is def Burto then! Or possibly Oki? ;)

This is the turning point we needed in Round 1 2023. Its now in action for 2024.
The turning point will be how brutal the offseason is for the players. They have been put on notice and I expect that those who don't want to buy in will be shopped before the start of the season.

Bulldogs defend ‘punishment’ of player who walked out and didn’t return
By Michael Chammas
August 29, 2023 — 9.31pm

The Canterbury Bulldogs are privately defending their treatment of an NRL player who walked out of training five weeks ago due to mental health reasons.

The player, who hasn’t been named due to the seriousness of his mental state, turned up to training late for a session last month. He is in the top 30 squad but considered a fringe first-grader.

The coaching staff decided to enforce a punishment, which is a common practice at NRL clubs, asking him to wrestle up to a dozen of his teammates for an extended period at the end of training.

A week later he asked the club for time off due to personal reasons and hasn’t been back to training since. The club is still paying his contract.

The Bulldogs declined to comment when contacted on Tuesday night. The Daily Telegraph also reported that centre Braidon Burns walked out on a training session last week after suffering a hamstring injury and has left the club.

The Herald has been told he trained on Tuesday.

It comes after the Herald reported on Monday that Bulldogs staff were aware of a text message that has been doing the rounds in recent days that claimed up to eight players were unhappy at the club under the coaching of Cameron Ciraldo.

One of the grievances allegedly raised by
some current players, and potential recruits, was a frustration over Ciraldo’s workload demands.

The message claimed that Ciraldo’s expectation for players to be around for training from 8am to 5.30pm was unrealistic and a deterrent for some players to join or remain at the club.

The Dogs’ performances of late, which have left many questioning the commitment of the players, speaks to a problem at the club. Those concerned about how hard or long training is appear to have their cards marked, with the Bulldogs expected to make a raft of changes once their season ends this weekend.

Ciraldo has a proven track record of success having worked hand in hand with Panthers coach Ivan Cleary to deliver two premierships at Penrith.

He has recruited players from clubs who have played for successful teams like Stephen Crichton (Panthers), Jaeman Salmon (Panthers), Liam Knight (Rabbitohs), Blake Taafe (Rabbitohs) and Siua Taukeiaho.

Ciraldo is expected to front the media for his weekly pre-game press conference on Wednesday.

I don’t really care who falls or is pushed from this lot. If Ciraldo and Gould are actually drawing a line in the sand I want to see 2 things;

Every single player and staff member is held accountable (including Gould and Ciraldo) and I don’t want to hear or see any bullshit fluff story’s of bonding, togetherness, how well they are training etc etc. RADIO SILENCE until the trials.

If nothing else we better come out a snarling bunch who would rather bleed than let 12 points in per game, let alone 30 fucking plus..

Brown. He‘s already left as most here know, because he couldn’t handle the training regime.

It’s one thing for fans of other teams to eat this garbage up, but cmon dogs fans, don’t get sucked in by Buzz of all people! His agenda is sickening.
There are some " fans" here who trust Buzz more than Gus, that's very sad
