Brandon Smith’s future at the Roosters looks to be coming to an end, with the gun hooker revealing he’s “not really in a rush” to sit down with NRL rivals.

It comes amid a report from The Daily Telegraph, revealing rival clubs have reportedly been approached by the Tricolours to gauge their interest in Smith’s services.

The 28-year-old is contracted until the end of the 2025 season, meaning he’s free to sit down with prospective clubs regarding a move for the 2026 season.

As it stands, he’s sidelined until the middle of next year after he went under the knife on his knee, suffering a brutal MCL and ACL injury to close out the regular season.

Smith’s earning a reported $900,000 per-season, but has battled with injuries and form during his time at the Roosters.

Speaking on James Graham’s The Bye Round podcast, Smith opened up on his current contract situation.

“My manager told me when do you want me to talk to other clubs and I just said I am not really in a rush at the moment,” Smith said.

“Usually you sign a contract for security … in case pre-season you get injured or something happens like that. With me, I am already injured.

“I don’t have a risk of being reinjured. So I just told them to wait it out, don’t talk to anyone yet and I want to go back to training and get my knee right.”

“I don’t want to go anywhere and my partner is well entrenched in the club. Ideally I would like to stay but the game of rugby league doesn’t always have the same opinions as yourself.”

Smith’s comments come after reports surfaced that Smith’s stay at the Roosters wouldn’t be extended past his current contract.

I actually think lock is his best position and he would really suit our style of play but also have a few reservations about him...

Oh and he's definitely not worth 900k!

He’ll go to Parra, he’s worked with Ryles at the Storm too and they’re desperate for a 9

Nope, he had his chance and played everyone before making a predicable decision for the Latte sipping wankstains.

He wanted nothing to do with us when we were desperate and now that we are on the up he can get fuked. Infact anyone that didn't want us can do the same.

Lastly, it said "Gun hooker". Ummm his move exposed that he is far far far far from that. He's just an unfit fat fuk that didn't fit into the pussy system there. He's gassed after 10 minutes. Getting what he deserves IMO.

As you gathered........... A BIG FUKIN NO!!!!!!!

If you're have problems understanding what this means, just consult with my brother @ASSASSIN

Could be anything. Sadly outside storms rug and management bloke is a risk. Been a flop for chooks and looks like Robbo cant control!

Didn't realise he was 28... Coming off ACL and other issues definately a hard pass for me now. Would consider at 450k max, but he wont take that low an offer

Back when we had Dean Pay & then T Baz as coach I used to get excited about guys like Smith coming onto the market. Now we have a proper coach it is more about the player fitting our system for me.
