You know Rassayri.Let’s just say I know a fly on the wall inside the board room of our great club
Very mature. What did you expect them to say???
Yeah the boys rode them home doggy style and finished them off in the missionary position
He left that in 2019 according to Wikipedia.Gallop would be great! But I think he’s running the A league isn’t he?
Very disappointing hearing this from 2 greats in Dr George and Terry. One can only hope it was hills choice and he wasn’t cut throat. As I can’t help but agree with the above quote that if we knew we wanted to head in another direction why not tap hill earlier for both parties to get a jump on a replacements.'Disappointing': Peponis blasts Bulldogs over axing of CEO Hill
January 12, 2021 — 3.21pm
Canterbury legend George Peponis has taken aim at the Bulldogs for axing good friend and chief executive Andrew Hill at short notice.
The Sydney club, notorious for its boardroom dramas, is now without a CEO, head of football and head of commercial just two months out from the season.
Peponis has worked with Hill in the past, including at the 2017 World Cup, and was disappointed – yet hardly surprised – a good man had been let go by the so-called ‘‘Family Club’’.
Despite a club press release claiming Hill had resigned, Hill was told by chairman John Khoury late on Monday his services were no longer required. He inked an extension just last year and guided the club through one of its toughest periods in history.
‘‘I gather this was fairly sudden because there have been no rumours about it, and Canterbury are not known to keep their rumours quiet,’’ Peponis told the Herald. ‘‘It’s taken me by surprise. Hilly has a lot of experience. I think he inherited a very difficult situation, he got them through it the past few years, and now when things look like they’ll improve they give him the arse. It’s disappointing.’’
Peponis also questioned the timing of Hill’s dumping and asked why it was not done straight after last season.
‘‘There’s been an upheaval of the board, it is time for some stability, and if you were planning to do this, why wait four or five months and just about to start the new season? It’s like getting rid of your coach a week before the competition starts,’’ Peponis said.
On the same day the Hill news emerged, Peponis set foot inside the Canterbury League Club for the first time in 18 months, but it was only to pick up his three grandchildren.
Hill was given the news by Khoury and several other board members late on Monday and officially finished up last night.
It's understood Khoury told Hill the club wanted to move in a different direction. Khoury was contacted several times for comment but could not be reached.
The club’s chief financial officer, John White, will take over as interim CEO. The club hopes a replacement will be in place by the start of the season.
Aaron Warburton, who worked as Canterbury’s head of commercial just a few years ago – and was appointed by Hill when the pair worked together at the Eels – was one name already being whispered within league circles. Warburton declined to comment when contacted Tuesday night and made it known he was happy developing his own management company.
Hill started at Canterbury before Christmas in 2017, dealt with the messy Des Hasler split, Dean Pay’s sacking, several early exits by star players on big money to help ease the salary-cap strain, and had to work with three different boards in as many years. The club was also days away from announcing another sponsor Hill had secured.
Bulldogs great Terry Lamb said he was ‘‘absolutely shocked’’ and Hill was not only a smart operator but a ‘‘great bloke’’.
Keen to continue working in rugby league administration, Hill, who is in his late forties, said: ‘‘I have enjoyed my time at the Bulldogs and after three years of service in the role the time is now right to look at my next challenge.’’
Melbourne are without a CEO after Dave Donaghy's resignation, but the club is advanced in its own interviewing process for a new boss.
Khoury, who took over from chair Lynne Anderson late last year, said: "Andrew Hill has made a significant contribution to the Bulldogs over the past three years. He has strengthened all areas of the club and will leave us in a strong position for a new CEO to take over.
"We are appreciative of his professionalism in signalling this early enough for us to find a replacement in time for the start of the season."

Dr George does come across as a bit of a rent a quote at times in this article. He has earned the right to say what ever he wants but he is speaking to suit his agenda.Very disappointing hearing this from 2 greats in Dr George and Terry. Tbh the disappointing thing is people who should have the best interests of the club making comments to keep themselves in the media.Very disappointing hearing this from 2 greats in Dr George and Terry. I think Darcie got that last bit wrong. Hill himself said that Barrett came to him and talked about getting some mentorship around him. Hill asked what kind of mentorship and Barrett said Steve Hansen, Hill said yeah, someone like Steve Hansen would be great, and Barrett said, no, I mean Steve Hansen himself, and gave him Steve's mobile number. It took Hill a couple of days to phone Steve, and Hill himself said he wasn't sure whether to call him Sir Steve or Mr Hansen or just Steve. When he phoned him apparently Hansen "I've been waiting for your call".
Correct..spot on actuallyDisappointed to see him go but I’m not that surprised. Im pretty sure his contract had just expired at the end of 2020 so it was probably his plan all along for him to move on
