What I am trying to say is that Iranians with 40 kilos deserved more bullets then Chan and Sukamaran.
Iranians didnt attract media attention in Iran nor in Indonesia, they were able to bribe the judges hence got away with death penalty. I am sure that is how it would have happened cos it has happened in the past with others.
The Iranians tried to smuggle it in themselves. They also did not act as standover men.
To my understanding, the judge mistakenly sentenced them to 15-20 years. When it was realised there was an appeal, and the appeal was rejected because it was deemed unfair to sentence them to death for a mistake by the courts.
Interesting note is that this is the first death penalty the Denpasar Local Court has ever handed down!
Chan and Sukamaran were always sentenced to death.
Didnt one of the bali nine say his family was threatened or his life? that seems to be a generic excuse though when drug smugglers are caught
and also the person jailed in Hong Kong/China who got caught with drugs (Chan and Sukumaran had already bailed the country by then), mentioned they were standing over them. It was shortly after that they got caught.
Numerous members of the Bali 7 reported that Chan and Sukamaran had threatened their families and friends if they didn't take the drugs through for them.
In addition to this, they copped extra as they organised and physically taped the drugs to the smugglers bodies with the intent to get them through.
That's why it all culminated into a death penalty for them and life in prison for the others.
