I'm sure there is some racial undertones to it and when you look at it:
1) part of the booing is because he pointed out a girl for making racial remarks
2) part of the booing is because he did an Indigenous dance
3) part of the booing is because he called Australia Day "Invasion Day"
Did he do anything wrong?
A bit right, a bit wrong:
- Calling it "Invasion Day" is a little racist, even if it is partly accurate and makes him a bit of a hypocrite.
- Pointing out a girl for racial remarks, nothing wrong with that. Stamping out racism is important.
- Carrying out an Indigenous dance, nothing wrong with that at all. He's allowed to do his Indigenous dance especially since it means a lot to him and other Indigenous people.
Everything since has put more of a downside on him. The booing is stupid and childish and the AFL should possibly do something about it. But at the same time, he needs to handle it better. Fafita copped a mass of boos at Belmore and he clapped the crowd. He didn't say "I'm not going to play 'cause of this"
So in conclusion, to answer your question:
Yes, No, and Maybe.
