So the below I believe are the players we have confirmed (At least for now) on our books for 2021. I think we all know this squad still has a heap of changes to come, but for now this is what we have.
- Brandon Wakeham
- Christian Crichton
- Dallin-Watene Zelezniak
- Jake Averillo
- Jayden Okunbor
- Lachlen Lewis
- Nick Meaney
- Reimis Smith
- Will Hopoate
- Nick Cotric
- Kyle Flanagan
- Adam Elliot
- Chris Smith
- Blake Green
- Jack Hetherington
- Corey Waddell
- Raymond Faitala-Mariner
- Josh Jackson
- Dylan Napa
- James Roumanos
- Jeremy Marshall-King
- Joe Stimson
- Luke Thomspson
- Matt Doorey
- Ofahiki Ogden
- Renouf To'omaga
- Sione Katoa
Where I've listed more than one player I think it deserves to come down to work done in the preseason. Not counting on injury here either, just my opinion on our best run on side.
1. Meaney (only genuine #1 in our roster and was getting better without having a lot of creative players to set him up) Averillo as a possibility, Hoppa as back up too.
2. Smith/DWZ
3. Hoppa/DWZ
4. Cotric
5. Okunbor
6. To be decided by preseason work from
Wakeham/BBO/Averillo
7. Flanagan/Green. Lewis still an option, but a project for Barrett to get him playing better.
9. JMK- Still a reasonable option. Hopefully his instincts as a 9 are a bit better and the rest of the team has better attacking structure. Katoa has some utility value off the bench.
Not even going to guess at our forward pack. I'll say that our new recruits here seem to have some pace for forwards and a bit of aggression in defence based on highlights I've seen. But all potential options in the forwards need to fight tooth and nail, because aside from 3-5 players, nobody has jumped out and said they have to be there with recent form. But one thing that annoyed me about our second row this year was that they frequently wanted to play too close to the edges. Really hope the new coaching staff fix this and our halves and backs have more than a few metres of space to play in.
