From what I saw of his Storm days, Stimson has the potential to be a starting edge back rower for us if he gets fully fit. Problem is, that’s potentially...

if Schoup comes good that’s huge for us also. That’s centre plus 1 cover sorted between he, Cotric and Hoppa.

genuinley feel we a a 800k number 9 and Burton away from threatening the 8.

punt Napa for a front rower of equal coin and we are definate top 8.

if that is our possible starting team, its concerning it needs a fair bit of work still, need a fullback, centre, winger, 9 and 6 atleast. We will deffo make more signings and no way Smith will be in centre

For next year we just need a hooker and fullback.

So the below I believe are the players we have confirmed (At least for now) on our books for 2021. I think we all know this squad still has a heap of changes to come, but for now this is what we have.

  1. Brandon Wakeham
  2. Christian Crichton
  3. Dallin-Watene Zelezniak
  4. Jake Averillo
  5. Jayden Okunbor
  6. Lachlen Lewis
  7. Nick Meaney
  8. Reimis Smith
  9. Will Hopoate
  10. Nick Cotric
  11. Kyle Flanagan
  12. Adam Elliot
  13. Chris Smith
  14. Blake Green
  15. Jack Hetherington
  16. Corey Waddell
  17. Raymond Faitala-Mariner
  18. Josh Jackson
  19. Dylan Napa
  20. James Roumanos
  21. Jeremy Marshall-King
  22. Joe Stimson
  23. Luke Thomspson
  24. Matt Doorey
  25. Ofahiki Ogden
  26. Renouf To'omaga
  27. Sione Katoa
Where I've listed more than one player I think it deserves to come down to work done in the preseason. Not counting on injury here either, just my opinion on our best run on side.

1. Meaney (only genuine #1 in our roster and was getting better without having a lot of creative players to set him up) Averillo as a possibility, Hoppa as back up too.
2. Smith/DWZ
3. Hoppa/DWZ
4. Cotric
5. Okunbor

6. To be decided by preseason work from
Wakeham/BBO/Averillo
7. Flanagan/Green. Lewis still an option, but a project for Barrett to get him playing better.

9. JMK- Still a reasonable option. Hopefully his instincts as a 9 are a bit better and the rest of the team has better attacking structure. Katoa has some utility value off the bench.

Not even going to guess at our forward pack. I'll say that our new recruits here seem to have some pace for forwards and a bit of aggression in defence based on highlights I've seen. But all potential options in the forwards need to fight tooth and nail, because aside from 3-5 players, nobody has jumped out and said they have to be there with recent form. But one thing that annoyed me about our second row this year was that they frequently wanted to play too close to the edges. Really hope the new coaching staff fix this and our halves and backs have more than a few metres of space to play in.

Agree pending what happens with Topine I want Elliot on our right edge. Which would now feature Flanagan / Elliot / Cotric which is way more creative than anything we've had in a long time
I’d prefer Elliot at lock but it’s definitely exciting to finally have a strike weapon like Cotric out wide.

Hopefully DWZ can find some form outside him and make the right wing his own. Right wingers have done more damage to Christchurch mosques than what they have on-field for us over the past decade so hopefully he will come through for us.

I think Cotric and DWZ are to similar in body type. I like my CTW pairings to complement each other Cotric needs a speed demon outside him with good hands and vision to capitalise off his offloads and or line breaks... Just don't see DWZ as that guy... If they play Dallin left wing then maybe I'll deal with him starting

With Trent Barret coaching next year and the coaching staff he has got coming with him plus the players signed so far I'm pretty excited about our prospects for next year. They're also saying that we might sign Ado Carr and Matt Burton.
Here's my team for 2021

1. Averillo / Ado-Carr
2. DWZ
3. Hopoate
4. Cotric
5. Meaney
6. Lewis
7. Flanagan
8. Ogden
9. JMK
10. Thompson
11. Jackson (c)
12. RFM
13. Elliot

14. Toomaga
15. Hethrington
16. Smith
17. Stimson

Haven't seen much of Corey Waddell, so haven't put him in

We need to go in for Brandon Smith. He is one player I would be happy to spend a bit of overs on.

JMK at 14

RMF as a middle player off the Bench

Jackson isn’t an edge player anymore either. I think he should move to 13.

Elliot on one edge and the other edge will be determined by pre season form.

JAC would be a welcome addition to the backline but I would prefer Barrett to try and nab Burton to partner Flanagan in the halves.

6. Burton
7. Flanagan
9. Smith

That combination isn’t going to gel immediately. But 2022 we will be ready to be a force again.

I was trying to work out my favoured 17 but I honestly can't.. potential player movements and the fitness of certain players has too much of an influence on the makeup of the side. We at least have a few different options although not all of them are great.

I actually think RFM was at his best coming off the bench as a middle man in 2018. Will be interesting to see what Barrett goes with.

Doorey has a future and I've liked what I've seen so far from him. Waddell I actually haven't seen much of because I avoid watching Manly play lol
(Doorey)
Can I ask exactly what you like about him , he back up to score a try and then I’ve seen nothing at all , maybe in 2 - 3 years he might be good
