Working in Health I have strong views but I won’t go into that.

Even post December 1 when the un vaccinated are allowed out I still can’t see other states changing rules to allow them into their state until vaccinated.
If the Nrl doesn’t mandate it, I can see it being between club and players. He will be taking a pay cut here or elsewhere surely if he only players x amount of games in NSW.

I’d like to know if he has received other vaccinations in the past or he is against all vaccinations.

The other part of the article that mentioned he was against wearing masks is pretty frustrating. When the nrl went to lengths to move the comp to allow it to continue and players to get paid, you’d think players would abide by the rules. For 700-800k a year whatever he’s on it’s easy to wear a mask.
The only thing I thought was strange was making players wear masks from sheds to end of tunnel when running out. But wearing masks elsewhere when required is a no brainer.

I think something similar is happening in the NBA with Kyrie Irving. He is an anti Vaxer and his team won’t let him play until he gets vaxed

The Bulldogs are his employer, its like you refusing a drug test at your work what would happen then?
He does have a choice to not get vaxxed but the Bulldogs have the right to sack him too.
I am not sure how you can make this claim unless you have seen his full employment contract? If your employment contract requires you to submit to drug tests then if you don't you breach the contract and will be potentially subject to sactions specified in the contract. I have had many employment contracts that have not specified a requirement to be drug tested at the request of the employer.

Personally I'm all for getting vaccinated. However the way this whole thing has been handled in Australia is bullshit. Had massive age restrictions on when you could actually get vaccines, then huge waiting lists locally for me when my age group was eligable. I wouldn't imagine thats an issue for Thompson. If this article is actually true it could be an indication that Thompson wants out of our club. However given that there's no quote at all I feel as if it's more likely just bullshit.

My own personal situation right now is that after the 25th I'm meant to have gotten my second dose of AZ. I got my first dose 8 weeks ago on the 25th. All information I've read indicates that to develop long term immunity 12 weeks should be the period between doses. I don't really want to get a second dose a month early so the government can shout from the rooftops that they've gotten us to a certain percentage of double vaccinations if it means my second dose will be limited in how effective it is. So I'm a bit pissed at how these rules have come into place regarding both access to non essential shops and in my case the eligibility to work in a nursing home.

So on the one hand I do respect Thompsons decision if he really has some objection to the vaccinations. I personally don't, but if it means I'm going to have to take time off work I'll do so because I actually do want to get the vaccinations for the sake of those I live with and their elderly relatives, plus the residents of the nursing home where I work. But I also know the club is looking to cover all bases in preventing a serious situation from decimating our roster.

No use posting the article if we can't truthfully comment about it's contents, how that affects the team and fans and our opinion on it.

Thats true but at the drop of a hat, we may have targetted lockdowns or mandatory 2 doses IF this gets out of control OR to a level that the pollies know that the population will not accept a lot of overloaded hospitals or deaths. Dont forget the upcoming election :grinning:

All footy teams will need to feel as compliant as possible to conduct business and safe for all those players who ARE vaxxed and ready to go to deal with these possible eventualities with ALL their roster including coaches, staff and players.

We could be locked in, or out, of say Qld or Vic if we have unvaxxed players or staff.

The club have to plan for all these scenarios and that makes it 100% more difficult with unvaxxed players....what do the vaxxed guys (and their families/children) think about Thommo being around the group.

How's that GC AFL player travelling today?
Agree - the NRL need to make some policy decisions for the multitude of scenarios. Im not sure how anything will be enforceable within the state given the current roadmap as of Dec 1.

If you’re not able to truthfully comment about the topic of the thread without it getting wildly off track like Covid threads tend to do than it’s your problem and no one else’s.

A tale of two Lukes – Brooks and Thompson – has the potential to impact several NRL clubs, and shake up the game, this week.

Luke Brooks is being positioned to leave Wests Tigers, with his management saying he would prefer not to be coached by Michael Maguire. He has been linked with the Bulldogs and the Knights.

Luke Thompson’s situation is potentially more explosive. He has been butting heads with Bulldogs management about COVID vaccination. He has told them a number of times that he does not want to be vaccinated. He didn’t even want to wear a mask in Brisbane when players were required to do so after the competition was relocated to Queensland.

I revealed a few weeks ago on Channel Nine news that Bulldogs players were told they had to be double vaccinated by the start of pre-season training on November 1.

I sent Thompson questions about his opposition to vaccinations, but received no reply. Bulldogs chief executive Aaron Warburton also declined to comment.

Canterbury would be happy if Thompson took his attitude towards COVID elsewhere. One of Thompson’s best mates is Wests Tigers UK recruit Oliver Gildart. I’ve been told Gildart has been trying to recruit Thompson to the Tigers, without much luck.

And this is where the two Lukes are linked. If Thompson moved on, there would be money for Brooks at Belmore. It is my understanding that Brooks would be happy to be coached by Trent Barrett. The Tigers have specialist halfback Jackson Hastings counting down the minutes in quarantine after his return from the UK Super League.

The other issue for the Bulldogs is they already have a No.7, Kyle Flanagan. Even if they wanted Brooks – and got him at a discounted rate – the Bulldogs would still have more than $1.3million tied up in the two halfbacks. That’s a big drain on their salary cap.

The NRL needs to have a unified stance regarding Covid-19 vaccination, individual clubs must not be put in confronting positions with their own players, but then again are we asking too much from the National Rubbish League ?
Regarding Thompson and Brooks,
Is The Daily Tellacrap at it again recycling at their old sewage plant ?
Or is old fox Gus Gould intentionally starting these rumours ?
I guess we will have to wait and see :grinning:

It’s pretty simple, not vaxed he can’t train with the team, he can’t play in Qld, he can’t play in Vic, he can’t play in NZ and he can’t go home to the UK. It’s his choice if he does or doesn’t get vaxed, but there are consequences to making that choice.

Who said I can't resist to comment "truthfully" or "wildly"? I'm just commenting on your supreme leader direction telling people they can't say their opinion on the article YOU posted and then banned if you do in a way you don't like. Any comment is just as relevant, as the article directly relates to his stance, the clubs possible stance and a forum dictates that it wants responses from the fans and conversation. Sound's like it's more your problem then anyone else's.

You mentioned not being able to speak truthfully. The point is Covid is a hugely controversial topic and every time the two mix it gets wildly off topic. Death rates, vaccine horror stories, conspiracy theories and all that other stuff which routinely gets bought up around these type of threads belongs in the Covid thread if people want to debate that. Everyone else doesn’t have a problem with it or understanding that so it does look like it’s your problem doesn’t it.
