Should we offer Tedesco 1.25M ?

Reports say the Roosters have offered Tedesco 3.3M to extend for another 3 years (1.1M per season) and there is a bit of stalling because Tedesco's camp want a bit more - which the Roosters are unlikely to give.

1.25M per season (the same as the Titans paid for Fafita) may be enough to get him to switch clubs. It's an extra 450K (nearly half a MIL) over the 3 years.

Would you pay it ? / should we pay it ?

Is he worth it ? (best player in the world)

Could we afford it ?

This would be in addition to us also buying Flanagan, Burton and a top hooker. By 2022 we should have enough to buy "all"

We're not going to have much creative strike in attack in the forwards (only our hooker hopefully and RFM and Elliott) and our halves if we get Flanagan and Burton will still be very young and inexperienced and our wingers will just be average it seems so we might as well spend up to get the best strike power we can afford from fullback. Many don't think JAC can make a good transition. Wouldn't it be great to finally have our rockstar fullback ? - the best player in the NRL. ? We should be able to afford 1 top 5 player in such an important position. Really, if you look at our team on paper we should be able to afford both Tedesco AND JAC.

1 James Tedesco
2 Jayden Okunbor
3 Nick Cotric
4 Oliver Gildhardt / Dylan Walker / Jake Averillo
5 Josh Addo-Carr / Reimis Smith
6 Matt Burton
7 Kyle Flanagan
8 Ofahiki Ogden
9 Harry Grant / Brandon Smith / Daryl Clarke
10 Luke Thompson
11 RFM
12 Adam Elliott
13 Josh Jackson

14 Renouf Toomaga
15 Jack Hetherington
16 Corey Waddell
17 Joe Stimson
18 Matt Doorey

Wouldn’t come to us for an extra 100k. But you have to try. Give all hopoates and for and money to him and replace that with Tedesco and a youngster on minimum contract

No because we need a half and dummy half before we get luxury signings like Tedesco
This would be in addition to us also buying Flanagan, Burton and a top hooker. By 2022 we should have enough to buy "all". Other than hooker it doesn't look like we'll be buying more forwards for a while after signing Hetherington and Waddell. Flanagan and Burton won't break the bank so if we move on Hopa, and shop DWZ, maybe move on Napa also and a few others we should be able to afford a superstar outside back.

F@ck Tedesco would rather have Jake Averillo at fullback. This kid has so much upside / potential that if he can make fullback his own, then we will a have a fullback for the next 10 years. Besides Tedesco is a prima donna I see him as being extremely self-centered and temperamental, you would always have to have a box of maxi pads on hand just in case he gets his rags. On another note who could forget Teddy being king-hit by a teammate who believed he had propositioned his girlfriend. :grinning:

I don't see him leaving the Roosters. As great as Teddy is, he was below his lofty standards this year and turns 28 in January.

He still has plenty of good footy left, but I'd rather let the Roosters pay him a million plus on a 3-5 year deal towards the back end of his career.

I can't see tedesco leaving the roosters now. Like Fittler back in the day, he was never destined to leave after transferring to them.
Apart from the money, they love the scene.

If the Roosters are offering 1.1m, Tedesco wouldn't even think about coming to us unless it's something in the 1.3-1.4m range imo. Also there are some reports that Fifita is on 1.3m. JAC for 600-700k vs Tedesco for 1.3-1.4m, I know who the club is going to (try and) go with.

The Bulldogs could offer Tedesco 1.5M a year and he wouldn’t accept it. In any case the Roosters would never let him go.

Can you throw in a free Flanagan if we buy out Crichton's contract? Sounds like a good deal to me.

Bloody oath you throw all the money at Tedesco and you let all the media outlets know so then when he resigns for way less at the Roosters you get them and the NRLol to investigate and finally we have our Roosters Salary Cap story. It’s perfect

Hasn’t anyone learnt paying crazy money for anyone wont lead to our clubs survival, most likely paying players excess amounts just causes instability ,they should play for free pride of the jersey like they did In the 80’s.

Nah, if anything the media would accuse use of trying to bully the Roosters and they would put the spotlight back on our cap. The sombrero roosters versus the sunshade dogs.
