If what’s reported is to be believed it’s got to be the halves that improve. Hopefully the group he works with doesn’t include Lewis.

The good thing is he seems to have surrounded himself with various experience which will benefit the whole team.

It’s definitely a different feeling coming into 21 with a new coaching team, hopefully a few more players are added in the coming weeks.

I think with a brand new coaching staff, we should improve a lot. Not saying we will be world beaters but there's a lot of room for improvement.

I think rfm will stay on the edge and play a role like kikau. I think he was hard done by to not be player of the year but they gave it to Foran who left the club anyway...
Personally i like him on an edge. I guess it will deend on who stays fit. If the likes of Stimson, Britt and Smith can step up and show some quality form then i guess he may have to move to the front row. I like that he could do both well, so it will depend how things pan out i guess.

Jesus Christ himself couldn’t turn Lewis into a half back so Tbaz is no show but I think we’ll see a marked improvement across the board with the rest of the players but TBF it wouldn’t be fucking hard

First and foremost team improvement comes first, putting defensive and attacking structures in place and working within those structures, the one most important thing that’s been sadly lacking in the majority of our players, and I’ve said it on numerous occasions,is hindsight and the lack of understanding each other’s plays, the efforts have been there but the brains haven’t

Mmmm where do we start :grinning: I think every player in our squad has room for improvement, some more than others. To be fair, our team competed in most games this year and weren't too far off jagging a couple more wins (definitely that St George game). In saying that we definitely had the weakest roster by a long way and definitely the worst spine in the comp which in itself guaranteed a bottom 4 finish.

Firstly, I think that Barrett and his coaching staff will bring a higher level of coaching, fitness and training structures which in itself should bring improvement across the board. As for individuals I am hoping that he can really develop Averillo, Ogden and Renouf. I think Averillo has a real shot at becoming our x-factor but his game needs developing, his defence needs to toughen up but the kid is still only 19 so hopefully Barrett can start to develop him and we could have a real match winner on our hands for years to come.

Ogden for me has the potential to be our go forward leader of the pack but his fitness and defence need major work. I'm hoping Barrett and Furner can develop him into our wrecking ball up front.

And Renouf can also be a real x factor in the forwards. It looks like he had his offload coached out of him but again if he can get improve his fitness and defence he can be a real weapon with his ability to bend the line and get on offload away.

I think next year is make or break for Ogden and Renouf

If those 3 can develop they will add alot of quality to our team

I have left the halves out as I am praying that we get Flanagan, as TBaz wants him and is confident he can develop him to the standard of Nathan Cleary

This is a hard question as not many on the top grade have been allowed to cement a position week to week. They turn up with heart but also with the fear of been dumped at first failure.
I do want to see work put into the young guys in reggies and give them the belief and skills that they can and be given every opportunity to play in the top grade. All the success from the top teams have young 19-22 y.o putting pressure on the established blokes.
We haven't blooded enough through the last few years to make a dent.

Fitness n skill at the dogs over the last few years has been a generation behind other clubs, most clubs. I'm hopeful that regardless of further signings the players who have endured the training over the last few years will benefit significantly from what the new regime brings.

From all reports Barretts a very good halves & attacking coach.. they rate him in this role at Penrith..

It maybe a case where Barrett could be a better 'specialist' coach than head coach..

I'd like to think the whole squad would improve but I can see Averillo, Elliott, Thompson, RFM, Renouf and Ogden improving under Barrett while hopefully we see a much improved Jackson in attack..

If Flanagan is signed, you'd think Barrett would do wonders for his game. Likewise any other spine players that are signed. If JMK is still our main hooker, which hopefully he isn't, I can see Baz simplifying his role and making him more effective also.

Obviously Waddell and Hetherington are two players he's signed so you'd think we'd see an improvement out of those two also.

I reckon it’s too hard to tell rn but as long as Baz can get them competing for THE WHOLE 80 MINUTES Win lose draw ill be happy tbh.

Renouf looked the goods at the end of 2019 but had a poor year in 2010 IMO. He got dicked around by the coaches but he looked either disinterested or overawed at times. Hope Barrett/Furner can get him going cause we're still short in the front row. Hopefully Barrett gets something out of Wakeham too, but I reckon Lewis and JMK are lost causes.

I disagree. The effoet was always there, we just lacked the quality players needed to compete. Add to that numerous injuries.
Agree with you, one thing we did very well this year is put in consistent effort and despite being outgunned by star studded opposition, we often held our own.

Some quality players would give us some finals cred.

Rfm is strong on the edge, but needs to develop a pass into his game. Several times we had space but he just hit up instead of passing
