I'm not confident, no. However there are extenuating circumstances which need to be considered. When Napa came in the team was relatively stable, there was the optimism that comes with having a new coach, new systems to learn, etc. Neither was there a global pandemic, quarantine, isolation bubbles, and a looming recession. Add to that the info we have that Thompson is on not much and the objective of getting him over early was to get him settled for next season.
I'm still hopeful that with the chance to settle down, get out of the bubble at the end of the season, maybe get some family over here with him, and start work under a new coach and staff, Thompson will get back the mentality that he is known to have, and we'll see a lot more from him. Seeing the big bucks starting to roll into his bank account will probably help too, he seems to be an honest professional type of lad.
