Clearly the NRL played everyone with this.
Inviting Macklemore as half-time entertainment 4-5 years post the song that is inflaming everyone was to gain traction in an otherwise out-of-state grand final with possibly low interest. The strategy has worked. Politicians are commenting, media are circling and even the global airways are hearing about Rugby League .. NRL on the front page, back page, entertainment page and gossip page; well-played Todd.

Does anyone apart from those at the game even watch the half time performance?
It's the bathroom and re-fill break for most!

I scored free corporate tickets for this (Yep brag post) and one of the chicks I'm going with is gay but also a cop. That's going to be interesting.

On a side note the NRL booked Macklemore months before the plebiscite was even on the Australian publics radar so yeah probably lucky or unlucky timing depending on how you view it.

I think the whole issue with this is why can any other country in the world apart from Australia just pass something so trivial to most (but important to others) over night but we have to stuff around using it as a political football wasting money arguing over stuff that should not really bother us. I think this is just everyone hating politics more than anything.

So the whole thing was pretty average as you could not really hear anything too clearly. From experience hip hop doesn't translate well to big stadiums which was the case here.

Was a lovely moment when he did sing free love and the entire stadium put their smart phone lights on (lol thats a thing now) as one of the girls I was with seemed a little choked up as the whole issue is very important to her. She would murder me if she knew I wrote that.

So yeah all that fuss for a fairly ordinary show. But hey the young ones loved it and that was the entire aim of the NRL so good on em.
