PAY KEEPS HALF IN KENNEL

Bulldogs coach Dean Pay has intervened on the poaching bid of rival clubs for talented half Josh Cleeland.

After claiming yet another ISP NSW five-eighth of the year gong, clubs were lining up to lure Cleeland out of Belmore but Pay has knocked those talks on the head.

The new coach has a high opinion of the playmaker and plans to use him in 2018, which means he won’t be leaving the Bulldogs.

Good to hear.

He was always signed for next year though wasn't he?
Probably but it doesn't say anything there about signing. Maybe clubs were circling him trying to lure him over, and Pay has quashed that with something - maybe kick-starting extension talks or something.

1. Mbye
6. Cleeland
7. Foran
9. Lichaa
14. Brown
So much better then

1. Hoppa
6. Reynolds
7. Mbye
9. Robot

But in saying that I think with a proper structure the team will improve dramatically. Especially lichaa and mbye. Let's not forget the whole game plan was scripted so it was hard to take opportunities on the field because the rest of the team didn't know what was up.

This is Nathan Ryan bullshit at its peak last week he was the one that reported that Cleeland wanted out only for Josh to shut it down immediately on Twitter.

I believe Foran is a better 5/8 than a 1/2. Things are looking good.
1) Hoppa
6) Foran
7) Cleeland
9) Lichaa.

If any thing it's good to see pay come in and throw his weight around straight away! He means buisness and no one is getting in his way

Let's hope he lives up to all the hype. Plenty of players kill it in NSW cup but can't take the next step. Wish the kid all the best, it would be really nice to have a good halves pairing which we haven't for years.

Its not impossible i guess that pay might keep Hop at FB. And its not impossible to see a Foran / Cleeland halves combo next year. And yeh if we re-sign Lichaa he will be 9. But where's Mbye go then? Centre or Wing, with the other 3 backs Mozz, Mozz and Montz? Tbh havent thought about him playing out wide yet.

Saw cleeland play about 4 or 5 times last season.killed it.but at times he missed a few one on one tackles. So he needs to improve his defense if he is to play fg .
Worth a go especially in the trials.
