News DOG-FIGHT AS AFL EYES TEEN

The Bulldogs showed off their long game with a 32-6 thrashing of Newcastle in the Harold Matts grand final last weekend.

The club has a host of fine young talent coming through - none moreso than halfback and captain Mitchell Woods.

The 17-year-old is about to enter the Playmaker Academy at Bulldogs.

But there is a rival for his services… AFL.

Blessed with a superb kicking game, Woods is in the Sydney Swans Academy program and is a chance of making the AFL draft next year.

The youngster has to decide which code to pursue some time in the next 12 months - and the Dogs are working hard to ensure he sticks with rugby league.

The kid is damn fit and very athletic,wasn’t a stand out rugby player in his younger days, I think his downfall might be his size in league,and some of his defence is suspect
