Quit your current sh*tty job for a 2 month contract paying (after tax) $550+ extra p/fortnight with an option to extend the contract for 1-2 years if you are any good?

Do you take the chance?

What is the current ****ty job and what is the future job? It depends on these things. If the contract is going to help you further your career then yes but if it was in my case, i wouldn't do it cause my current job is awesome and i don't get shtty pay either.

talk to your current boss and see what they can do to try and match it or come close, you may be suprised at what your current employer might offer you to stay

Depending on your circumstances.

Prob not worth the risk, who says they will offer you the extended contract ? How confident are you ?

my boss wont come close. im on a ridiculously low salary as it is and he wont budge.

circumstances are about to move out of home, need more money. probably 50/50 on it.

Do you think you can get another job quickly after the 2 months if they choose not to extend your contract?

Sounds like you need a change mate! Take the contract i reckon... Get out of your comfort zone, even if they don't extend it after 2 months, they're plenty of jobs out there... Is that new job $550? Per week? Fortnight?

Sounds like its a good opportunity to escape from your current job, and get a bit of extra experience for your CV.

Be wary of the fact that you are on a contract with the Government. From a NSW State Government point of view, they struggle to justify temps / people on short contracts.

Make sure you do your job well, but don't improve things so much in your new location that you do yourself out of a job. Make sure you remain necessary (if that makes sense).
