News Would The Bulldogs Get Better Value From Connor Tracey Or Ryan Papenhuyzen?

If we sign paps im tipping there to be a few players being dirty on dogs looking past Tracey. We better be finding a spot for Tracey. What’s the bet this guy gets injured first 10 rounds ?
Even Tracy would be stoked with the signing to be fair

Tracey would be the first to welcome Paps to the club and will relish to play in the same backline with Paps.

Paps has great knowledge and experience and his leadership in the back could only benefit and strengthen our backline and make each player better and become a genuine threat to the opposition with a formidable backline offering a different array of strengths in their respected positions.

What’s your top 10 list going into 2025-26?
1. Tedesco
2. Turbo
3. Edwards
4. Papenhyzen
5. Ponga
6. Drinkwater
7. Kini
8. Walsh
9. Tracey
10. Latrell

Just my two cents on Papenhuyzen and the top ten fullbacks chat:

People have very short memories and forget that a fit Ryan Papenhuyzen was all set to be the NSW fullback and only injuries stopped him achieving that goal.

Secondly ask yourself, how many of the current NRL fullbacks have actually won a premiership?

To save you the time only three current fullbacks can say they have won a premiership. Ryan Papenhuyzen, Tedesco and Dylan Edwards.

Thirdly, how many fullbacks on your lists have won a Clive Churchill medal and a premiership?

Only two players: Edwards and Papenhuyzen

So if you're basing the best full backs chat off of what they've actually achieved in the game and not just your opinion, the best fullbacks in the game right now are:

Edwards ️ (four premierships and a Clive)
Papenhuyzen ️(one premiership and a Clive)
Tedesco (one premiership)

Few reporters now coming out that Papenhuyzen is on the verge of signing if Weidler reports on it soon we know it’s true

I saw the David Riccio and Brent Read article. Who else is reporting Paps on verge of signing to Dogs?

Does it really matter once one journalist gets wind of it they all jump on it.

NRL Market Watch: Bulldogs inch closer to nabbing Ryan Papenhuyzen off the Storm
As Canterbury’s interest in Ryan Papenhuyzen deepens, Melbourne are counting on a miracle to keep their star fullback at the club.

NRL: Dragons coach Shane Flanagan says Ben Hunt's departure is good for all concerned, while Clint Gutherson has impressed his team at training.
The chase for Ryan Papenhuyzen is set to intensify with the Bulldogs firming in their bid to lure the star fullback out of Melbourne.
Storm officials will aim to meet with Papenhuyzen this week to advance negotiations amid a powerful play from Canterbury, which could see Melbourne struggle to compete financially.
There is increasing confidence across the game that the Bulldogs will secure the premiership-winning fullback.
The Storm have made no secret of their desire to retain Papenhuyzen on an extended contract, with their patience and faith in the outstanding No.1 to return from serious injury an indication of their belief in the 26-year-old.
However, the Storm are resigned to hoping Papenhuyzen stays for less money than what he could get on the open market and notably from the Bulldogs, who have been in serious discussions with the 2020 Clive Churchill medallist.

As first revealed by this masthead last September, the Bulldogs played $1.6 million short on their salary cap in 2024 - a saving that will allow Canterbury to make a massive splash on a player of Papenhuyzen’s quality.
The Dogs are also keeping a close eye on the future of Ben Hunt.
Conversely, the Storm are heading towards a huge 18 months of recruitment with some of their biggest names off-contract.
They have also lost just Reimis Smith for 2025, while adding in-demand Wests Tigers prop Stefano Utoikamanu.
Along with attempting to retain Papenhuyzen, who is off-contract at the end of 2025, the Storm have an extraordinary 11 players from the 2024 grand final off-contract at the end of 2026.

The star-studded list includes Harry Grant, Shawn Blore, Tyran Wishart, Xavier Coates, Jahrome Hughes, Trent Loiero, Nick Meaney, Will Warbrick, Christian Welch, Josh King and Tui Kamikamica.
Adding another layer of complexity to the Papenhuyzen negotiations is that the Storm also have a delicate decision to make on transitioning rising star and fullback Sua Fa’alogo into a regular starting position given their huge long-term investment until the end of 2028.
It’s understood that if Papenhuyzen re-signs at the Storm, Fa’alogo’s management have a verbal agreement that he can explore his options.
There have been suggestions that the Sharks are also in the hunt for Papenhuyzen. However, this masthead can report that Cronulla won’t be making a play for the Storm star.
The Bulldogs have fullback options Connor Tracey and Blake Taafe contracted through until 2026 and 2025 respectively.
Papenhuyzen has shown no sign that the impending decision on his future is playing on his mind. In recent weeks, he has posted images playing golf, at the Melbourne Cup carnival and spending time with his new partner, content creator Emma MacDonald.

Fuck me the only reason I don't want paps is because with our luck he will not play due to injuries and we will have wasted the money. Also that's A LOT OF MONEY. A LOT!

These reports we are close to signing Papi has a lot of oppo fans saying we have no cap hahaha. I think we’re back guys!

My feels are that he wants to stay in Melbourne especially with reports that his girlfriend has just moved down to Melbourne which everyone has glossed over and his manager is trying squeeze as much as he can out of the Storm.

Sorry the truth hurts as much as i want him...
