That and the fact that the Socceroos rarely get the opportunity to play against big name teams as well as in credible competitions. A loss during the week would not dampen the support for the sport as a move into Asia will hopefully see more big matches for the 'roos and more match practice for the team.
yes, but even if we played 20 matches against european/asian teams a year,it still wont be as classic as a gripping as a world cup qualifying fixture

Australia vs Japan
Australia vs Iran
Australia vs Saudi Arabia
Australia vs South Korea
Australia vs China

definately look like more better matches then

Australia vs Fiji
Australia vs New Caledonia :sleepy:

but still it doesnt compare to world cup glory

the one thing the asian connection does, is make the world cup campaign
more like a developed effort with group stages and a points tally

rather then a tense 2 legged match which can be won and lost based on a single strike or missed oportunity

you cant underestimate the importance of getting our nation into world cup 2006

(its even more important then my general sleeping pattern

ive only slept 2 hours)

Definately right. I think at this stage we are hoping Australia can make the WC. With years of experience and matches in against quality Asian opponents, it would make us more competitive and there will definately be a genuine chance of not only making the WC but perhaps being very competitive and not just making up the numbers.

Future looks bright! BTW Go Sydney FC! 1-0 over the Roar.
