Opinion Why hasn’t there been no official announcement for Reed or kikau?

The reason is related to the cap and contracts. ATM we can't execute a contract for 2023 if, in addition to our existing registered contracts for 2023, would put us over the cap for 2023. Shopping Cotric had helped, but we are still over so can't execute.
While verbal agreements are not worth the paper they aren't written on, we wish to see how Flanagan, Allen, RFM and Thompson go for the first 6 to 8 weeks before making a decision on who to seriously shop to enable us to execute for Reed and Villiami.
Covid protocols are also part of this mix.

How is that possible if we have 9 players (including Hetherington’s option) off contract for 2023?

Yeah that’s not true. We have a lot of cap for 2023 available

Sorry bs you can always execute a contract as you say has doing to do with the salary cap. Even if we were over as you say all you need is be cap compliant by the first game being played and that is still 14 months away

No.

They don’t (kikau and Mahoney) give up contracts for us to maybe be compliant.

Plus then to top it off we are already about 1mil free feom sacking Elliott and parting with cotric.

Next year we have many off the books again.

The mysteries around these signings keep it interesting. It aint done till its done, the ground could shift, that's sport its an emotional rollercoaster. The fanfare is when they arrive, plenty of uncertainty in securing arrival, look at Asiata.

I'm an optimist, so my preference is to believe that the reason why it hasn't been officially announced is because one or both of them are coming in 2022. Which aligns with the thinking that Cotric leaving is for 2022 benefit,

Every top 30 signing we make is posted on social media (and so does every other club), these 2 weren't which is weird. Still maybe a chance 1 comes early and Kikau being seen in our gear before Burton is weird again. The players wouldn't risk us not being salary cap compliant and I'm sure the NRL has signed off on 23 already.

All the Penrith players are back training now (including anti vax Koroisau) but Kikau is over in Fiji.

Correct. They've also scaled back the operation at nrl.com to become more of a media outlet than a digital news outlet.
