WHY DOGS RECRUITS SPELL BAD NEWS
Canterbury premiership winner Reni Maitua says he’s worried the Bulldogs will go backwards before they improve with new recruits Aaron Woods and Kieran Foran.
Maitua understands players will need to be moved out of the kennel to accommodate the two stars under the salary cap, which he says will hurt the team in the short term.
“I think they’re fantastic high-end players that you need at your club,” Maitua told NRL Tonight.
“But I think it’s going to come at a cost, especially for a few players. I’m pretty sure the salary cap is pretty full so they’ll need to move on some players to get those two under the cap.
“I’m not sure if the club’s gone the right way about it, it was a very public negotiation. I’m a little bit worried to be honest.
“I think things are going to get a lot worse before it gets better.”
