How would I know what happend in 1965?
It would be between Terry Lamb and Steve Mortimer, they led by example with so much individual brilliance it was amazing, then they would tackle front rowers all arvo.

My first Captain was George Taylforth. Those were the days when being in the pack was really life in the trenches. Most of our pack were policemen and they bashed away regardless. The grounds were pitifully bad and you had unlimited tackles it was a bloodbath and a mudbath at the same time. Scores were lower and closer so the captains role was important as there were no interchanges. Georgie T was and is a hero of mine.

George Peponis was the captain of the Entertainers. A great leader in a great side. Mortimer was a motivator and a great captain for the Dogs and NSW. Lamb led by example and it was a great example but not sure he was a leader.

All great skippers but please don't forget Kevin Ryan as captain and coach. When he came across from St George in 1967, we had been dead for 20 years. He was captain-coach when we beat St George in the Final to end their 11 year dynasty. We dit it - never forget that fact!!! Then we went down in the GF to an intercept try. He was really the first guy to bring a winning culture back to the club. I don't know if Peter Moore was involved at that time but it was a master stroke.
