What I'm hoping is that Des can mold Reynolds into a great 5/8th, Keating is a bench utility at best.

100% agree. IMO reynolds is our only hope. i think he is a gun and reminds a little of laurie daley.

Definitely Reynolds... I think he can be moulded into another Foran... He has a lot of guts and never backs down...

Barba is the answer....... Turner or morris at fullback..... I'm thinking romelo would play well at lock.

i really hope hasler makes it work for reynolds

*bulldogs junior
*hits even the biggest players on the park with great impact in defence
*has great spark in attack

if hasler is able to weave some magic with his temperament, passing game and kicking game, i'd prefer reynolds as pivot (with hodko at halfback) any day
yeah tend to agree with this, i think he has so much potential and his best is yet to come

Barba is not the answer. Foran in 2013 is the only answer. Why would Romelo play lock with Stagg and Halatau in front of him?? Reynolds and Keating are the bed we made and we need to lie in it so they are our options for 2012. Or we could put a struggling winger or specialist centre in at fullback and weaken 3 positions.

Agree with this, though i think Reynolds will be a good nrl player in time to come. Just not a half.

Funny thing is, we actually have quite a few options for halves, just all are underdeveloped compared to Keating.

Josh Reynolds
Chad Isles
Trent Cutler
Shane Pumipi
Kose Leilei (was it ever confirmed we got him back frm Sharks?)
Joel Romelo

We also have Josh Gill and Sterlin Sjeika (sp?) who I *think* can play in halves. Not 100% on that though.

Shane Pumipi is the darkhorse for halves contention. He normally plays hooker, but can also play five-eight. I'm fairly sure I've seen him cover centre and lock in Bundy Cup / NSW Cup before now too.

Up till now hes been often overlooked, and I don't understand why as he shows quite a bit of spark as a player. Pulls off a mean hit too.

Wouldn't mind seeing Leilei (if we have him) or Pumipi given a chance.

How much experience does Cutler have in the halves? If Keating and Reynolds fail to produce it's an option.

Not all that much.

That said though he's a winger/fullback primarily, so could be an option there.

Just not sure why we haven't seen him around the trials much.

I kind of remember a Holdsworth chant in a 2009 semi, anything can happen this year, Holdsworth used to get bagged and it affected his confidence, we need to be careful not to kick Keating in the balls too much and let him do his sh1t.

I'd say he could run drinks but if they were waiting for him to pass them they might die thirsty.

If he's able to develop a decent passing game he could become a good 5/8 but i'd prefer him to not be in the NRL side for us while he develops it. I'd love to be proven wrong about him and see him come good. It will be interesting to see how he develops with a season under Hasler.

Dark horse or not, I'm a Shane Pumipi fan. Whenever I've seen him play he's done well and although he probably won't make a run on side he's got top utility value. He's described on the Bulldogs website as hooker, lock and five eighth, so a player who can cover those three "core" positions has to be value.
