I read an article many years ago in a newspaper (remember them) about the Melbourne Storm processes that were put in place very early.

One of their officials was former St George forward and Grand Finalist from the early '90's in Craig Smith.

Bellamy makes aware to his players that they are very fortunate to do what they're doing.

Playing a game, they love and earning huge money so every off season it is mandatory that every player spend at least a month doing a 9 to 5 job like the many fans who come to the game to spend their money on following their favourite club(s). He was giving them a reality check.

Any new players to the club who rejected to do this were given a piece of paper from Craig Smith with Bellamy's name on it and asked to take it up with him.

Very few accepted.
Part of Bellamy's box, stay within the box or you're gonsky.

I love this quote from him.

If you don't work hard, I'll find someone who will.

Anyway I want Penrith to win, because:

(A) It keeps the title in Western Sydney, the TRUE Rugby League Heartland in this country, and;
(B) Thwarts/fights off the continuous threats that GWS pose to our grass roots.
Belmore is no longer western Sydney. I'll grant West of King Georges/Centenary drive. But I feel the effective line is Lidcombe Bankstown. Inside that line you live in something between the west and the inner west. Outer inner.west.. But not western Sydney

It's very wishful thinking as long as the players decide the game it'll be good because it's a great match up. Penrith aiming to make it four in a row. Melbourne been so consistent for so long without putting multiple premierships in a row together. Bellamy has done so well to navigate the Storm after Smith, Slater and Cronk all finished up. Unfortunately we all know Klein, Bunker & Gambling Interests will take over where the players won't decide the game. They allowed that last year and Gee is gone.

Just my personal bit of negativity. But the season ended for me when we were knocked out. Felt ripped off by how all but the last Manly try came about. Still not quite able to get past that.

So I haven't really watched more than a few minutes of football since. I'll read about who takes out the GF and focus on hoping we go up a rew notches in specific areas next season so we can be one step better than our opponents and two steps better than any bad calls the refs dish up.

Probably the worst build up to a GF in years. If we were in it, everyone would know the NRL GF was this weekend.

True that, also how do they expect long time locals from the Penrith area to afford grand final tickets, pricing is abit out of touch for a team from a low socioeconomic area like Penrith...

If they can afford their TNS and Jordans then they can afford GF tickets :tearsofjoy:
