I think you are mixing up 2 separate issues.

"That's the way things are" is not excusing bad behavior. It's just reality. Have you read all the insults flung around on here about people's families and their heritage. And in this forum we are united with our love for the CB Bulldogs!

It's wrong but it's the first reaction of some to hurl abuse. That's not changing on here or anywhere else anytime soon.

He also needs to take some responsibility for his disrespectful treatment of his opposition and in their face showboating and also respect his family by not aggravating his opposition players supporters that causes some fans to act that way ...they aren't gonna yell out "good onya Mutalino" for acting like a dill to one of their players.

Supporters want to act loyal to their team and are similar to the players, who rush in to "educate" these kinds of jerks and support their team mate.

You have not said Ronaldo needs to modify his behaviour if he doesn't want the fans calling his behaviour out. Players also have a responsibility to not egg on opposition fans. He often treats his oppositing winger with distain and rushes up in their faces hurling abuse or insults to them acting like a buffoon if he scores or they make a mistake. He is a poor sport and that is not harmless. It incites the crowds to boo, abuse him etc.

Again. This is not excusing keyboard warriors or fans yelling out abuse. Fans should rightly have some self control. It doesn't happen to the vast majority of players...only the certain ones who are cocky and bait on the field to earn the fans ire.

I think you are confusing two seperate issues. Mulitalo is on my top 3 most hated players list but I would never threaten a family member or him through DM because that is some weak shit. You are saying that it is his fault for that..and I’m saying you are wrong. He doesn’t really need to modify his behaviour at all unless he wants to be liked. He is a rep winger so he is doing well. His behaviour doesn’t deserve trolls talking about killing and raping family members, along with the usual racist shit. That is the reality and just because a player is cocky or aggressive or plays with a bit of dirt that is not okay.

Threats against family or life are completely different to racist threats, and of course should be treated differently.

My point is that by reacting you are letting that person get exactly what they want (a reaction). Much like bullies, if you ignore them, they don't get the satisfaction of a reaction, and move on elsewhere/to someone else.

Take the Latrell incident for example:
IF the reports are to be believed, the kid ALLEGEDLY yelled out "Black Dog" as Latrell walked up the tunnel.

- Mulitalo should announce he's going home to either Auckland or America Samoa for the next few days to get back in touch with his heritage to get over this
- the CEO and coach of every club the sharks have played this year should come out and deplore this online behaviour
- other kiwi and islander players should do interviews and denounce this online activity
- the NRL should also denounce it and announce an investigation with the threat of legal action against the culprits (which they can do if they want to pay the cash for FB or twitter to do the investigation - believe both have legal policies against hate speech)
