I do get it mate but it’s also 5 minutes out of our junior area and I’d feel more at home in a purpose built stadium than I would at stadium Australia too
True, purpose built stadium would feel more like home than stadium Australia, bit like Bankwest

Our own stadium is a no brainier as to preference. Of course, we need to find $200M+ to build one, which would be a lot more of an issue than the land itself.

I don't have an issue with sharing stadiums, but lets face it, Bankwest is Parra's stadium. It's next to their leagues club FFS.

But as i no longer live in Sydney i don;t really have as much skin in the game.
Bro just give the Habib's cash money and they do for you very cheap. Concrete not very good but last a few years then some cracks but that's ok they come fix with concrete filler bro

Again, people aren’t thinking this through
I said the same when the dogs were flirting with the northern beaches when manly was in trouble.
If you leave the area you will abandon the traditional followers of the game.
The Bankstown residents
The Lebanese
The people who fell for the dogs in the pre 2006 era who see Belmore as the spiritual home.

All these people keep the club afloat.
The leagues club is bang in the middle of belmore. It a palace. A homage to the steer and the team that repped the area. You see it in the club.
And the leagues club is pumped from the fans
Yes it is fortunate the area has a big Asian population who love the gamble, but so does Eastwood.
What CB leagues also has is:
- the Lebanese drug dealers doing 5 dollar hits on big red and lightning
- the cash in hand wogs who get their 2k in the hand + Centrelink and they also donate 500 a month in the pokies
- the fans in general topping shit up.

if you move to Liverpool, you’ll lose the hood. Drug dealers get locked up. The club loses its shine and then we become a soulless club like the titans and if our bad form follows, when the old school followers who have been with the club in the nineties like me die out then there’s nothing left and we are dead and we go downin history as the club who raped, cheated the cap, terrorists loved etc

A good ground still needs public transport access, and a railway station close by is a must have. You can park near a station, and catch the train to the ground.

The Bulldogs Leagues club has plenty of parking at Belmore.
Exactly. If everyone parked at the leagues club (which recently underwent a massive expansion) then it wouldn't be an issue. People either need to park at the leagues club, catch a bus or train to the ground, or walk if you're in the vicinity (even cycle). Parking at the ground is simply not an option.

There’s a stadium in Braga in Portugal that is built on the side of a cliff. It is a 30,000 seat stadium

Why can’t you do the same at Belmore (without the cliff?). You can build a multi storey parking station adjacent. But then there’s the train station nearby so you wouldn’t need much parking area

I say redevelop Belmore with 2 x 15,000 seated stadiums on either side
It's not the stadium and capacity that's the problem, it's the location. We have Canterbury Hospital on one side and the tracks on the other. The rest of the surrounding areas are homes. If you take a chunk of land and make it a car park, you can almost bet all the people who visit the hospital will park there because it's free. The only thing I can think of is make it a paid car park with ticket validation available for those with tickets to the game. However even if parking is made possible, the atrocity of leaving the stadium with 5000 cars getting out at the same time will be a nightmare.

If the car park was built in the airspace over the railway line there can be up to 6 vehicular exits, Suldury St, Cecillie St, Hall St, Loftus St (to Thorncraft Parade), Lochs St, Redman Parade plus direct passenger access to Belmore Station. With its easy access to the railway station the car park can be used during the week for commuters. Transport NSW are very much in favour of selling the airspace over railway lines AND at the same time providing car parking for their passengers, there is funding for that in every State budget.

You nailed it, game ticket includes parking, season ticket could include unlimited parking, anytime.

This does make sense but we all know that it's not always enough. If the corrupt politicians aren't getting a quid then it won't happen.

Not so much that as Canterbury and Bankstown not being swinging seats, so there is simply no reason for money to be spent in the electorate. It's not considered remotely worthwhile by either party to do anything for the voters. to encourage them to change their vote. Locked in electorates that always vote one way will always get the least funding. Plus to make it even worse the Council is absolutely horrid, last week ICAC found former Canterbury City Council councillors Michael Hawatt and Pierre Azzi engaged in serious corrupt conduct. ICAC also found that the Council’s former general manager, Jim Montague, engaged in serious corrupt conduct. As if it couldn't get any worse, the Federal Member will be there till he retires and is replaced buy another union hack, rinse and repeat.

Belmore won’t get redeveloped , location is poor with surrounding houses etc and I can’t see government building anything there when you have Homebush and bankwest relatively nearby and sfs at End of the day is not that far

the options I see is
Liverpool area a new stadium is built ( but that would be years and years away if done at all )
existimh options which to me is stadium Australia - belmore is antiquated and bankwest could never be a real home for the doggies .
stadium Australia is the option at least for the medium term

We should have mandatory fixed 2 term pollies like in US.

And everyone should change their vote each and every election to "keep the bastards honest".

But the showground has been altered for the GWS. They will not make it rectangular for NRL. Positioning our selves as the SW Sydney team with a purpose built stadium at Liverpool, which is shared with Macarthur FC and Wests is IMO, the smart move. Don't we still own the land near the Whitlam centre where oasis/stardome was going to be built? The government is more likely to invest money in a stadium in Liverpool as opposed to anywhere else due to the current and planned growth of the area, closeness to the new airport, close to m5/ m7 /train station/ tway etc.
Yeah the only way the Showground would work is if you completely destroy and re-build it. It wouldn't make sense for Macarthur to play home games in Liverpool which is over 40 minutes from Macarthur. Realistically the only team we could pair with having a home stadium with, that would be in a shared area, is Wests Tigers.

Its not that far bro, its only about a 15/20 minute drive or train ride. Hopefully we would only share the stadium for a short time until Wests Tigers are forced to relocate anyway!

It would be better to build the carpark underneath the adjoining playing fields - that way nothing on the surface changes, and no-one should complain.
