He doesn't have the build or athleticism to be anything but a half at first grade level.

Let's hope he can improve enough to become a first-grade standard half.

Right now, I'm leaning towards Foran and Cogger partnering each other, but Lewis has shown flashes of brilliance that interests me.

I still remember the trial he played and everyone thought he was god cause he had 2 try assists. Both his passes were rolling along the ground till they were scooped up and someone scored a good bull dozing try. Hardly magic lol.
Poor old bull terrier has slipped into depression after riding this kid all off season, now this.

At this moment?? his 16 games old hahahahah!

Ash taylor has the best skillset out of all the young halves.... Where is he without the heart of footballer bud?

And by the way yesterday he threw his first show and go and split the line.... Consider that an addition to his bag of tricks. In saying that he needs to work on his offload.
Ash Taylor is fat and unfit... thats his issue and he will be mediocre until he addresses it

All I know is that the club need a halves coach. Both halves would benefit a lot more by being coached by someone who played in the same position, rather than a forward.
I don’t mind Pay staying on as head coach if he’s got the right coaching staff around him. One good thing about Pay is that he seems to have the players on his side and has no problem bringing the team together. We need specialist coaches around him like you mentioned with the halves etc.

Everybody saw the flaws but the pros always outweighed the cons.

Should have always been Ennis and Kimmorley on our staff... Michael doing great things for the Raiders and well Kimmorley needs no explanation as he was a great 7.

We need more strike players with speed and power who can threaten by just giving them the ball. Across the park we are lacking that athleticism. Look how valuable kikau is for penrith or mitchell for the roosters. They make their halves look good. We really need to recruit a dominating athlete. James roberts is someone that is potentially available, and if coached right can be a mighty asset. Atm we are average across the park.

Bro, he has shown jack. He never engages the line, is erattic at times, so pedestrian when he runs. He does not organise at all. 5th tackle
Options as well. Passing it off to an edge forward then the **** looks lost. Meh.. the guy is nothing to jizz over

Seriously dont get why people are jizzing over Lewis. His been deadset terrible this year. He can defend wow. Who cares if he can defend because his the worst attacking half in the comp by far. The second worst isnt even close. Why Lewis gets a pass and jmk didnt when he was a half last year is beyond me. Jmk was a great defender in havles as well last year remember. Whats the difference between the 2? Nothing if you ask me. Because neither of them can attack for shit only defend.

Lewis cant pass, cant game manage, cant organise, last tackle options in the red zone please dont me started, no running game.

Im confused can someone remind me whats so good about him again? He can defend is that it anything else? Can someone find me a worse halfback in the comp atm? Because I cant. I would take every single one of all the other 15 teams halfbacks in the comp over Lewis. Name one that you wouldn't take over Lewis.

7 and 6 are just numbers. They play a half a side. A true 7 and 6 pop up both sides of the field. This is not Pays plan.

I'm in bed kicking back on a Sunday morning and the game is on again.... As im watching im thinkin how off the ball the critics are... This kid is special, he has an all round game in him from d to attack, something EXTREMELY rare for a half. YES he fux up sometimes and YES his execution ain't ripe but his fills a massive hole in any team.

It's like you have shot Bambie if you criticise Lewis here for some but there are parts of his game that deserve criticism.

His passing game and attacking options have left a lot to be desired this year. His passing or running game has never been his strong point.

If anyone is happy with his last tackle options they are easily please because he has been taking the wrong one more often then not.

I'm not sure if its a directive from Pay but it seems Cogger and even Foran earlier in the season have been taking much more of the kicks in general play.

He isn't getting anywhere near the time or space he had last year which he is struggling to adjust to.

I know some here really rate him highly but to me he is just a average half at best with great defence and that can only get you so far. He might improve or he might not only time will tell.
Ok so you pick the bad qualities.... Do you even consider the good? How well do u watch the kid?

Another week and another game has passed, we got the win which was great! Yet I'm still here scratching my head about where Lewis should play... he was sloppy all night, poor decisions and wayward passes throughout.
Like all of you here I applaud the kid for his attitude and defence, however if Foran was fit (based on his early season form) I'd have Lewis in 14 or in NSW cup.
Not a chance ,even if i agreed
Two game foran will be injured

I said he was great defensive and last year he was composed. His tenacity and attitude is good too those things can only take you so far in the halves. You rate him highly and fair enough I think he has plenty to work on and I’m not sold on him being a long term option at the minute. Let’s see where he is at by the end of the season hopefully he leaves me with egg on my face.

Kids got plenty off flaws and even though I'm one of his biggest fans I still lose it at him for some stupid things like his stupid shift on last tackles. It might be a coaching thing considering teams are rushing him or it could be his way of trying to innovate his game around defensive structures. Regardless your right he has got plenty to work on but his already got enough in my eyes to be a premium half.

For example he had a hand in 4 line breaks over the weekend, one being the first show and go I have seen him throw in 3.5 years. He also went 1mm and 1.5m away from 2 40/20's in the same game.... As I stated long ago, his not the flashiest but his got a kit bag of tricks, just needs to refine his game which will take time.

There’s no doubt he’s not getting as much time and space as last year so he will have to adjust. He’s also getting targeted in defence while he’s still making the tackles without a problem it could be fatiguing him.

I know the coaching staff has had a massive turn over through the last few years but a concern is that no halves have really developed at the club for a long time. Seeing as Lewis needs work I’m not sure how much help he will get with that.

Main factor is Foran… His the first real half Lewis has had any mentoring from so that's crucial. A halves coach should also be on the cards and why their isn't one yet is beyond me.

One thing I am worried about though is how long Lewis is going to last... Watching Reynolds at the tigers makes me cringe because Lewis and Reynolds are similar players, both throw their weight into everything. Hopefully Lewis doesn't start breaking down with all this traffic rather teams stop trying to go through him in the realisation its becoming a no go zone.
