how about, a contract is a contract, if a player is unhappy wants to move etc, npz, the club cuts the salary by half and the player sits out remainder of contract, if the player still unhappy and complains more - tough shit.

This. The fact that players can bail out on contracts when they feel like it is beyond a joke and makes the NRL look like idiots tbh. Sure there are circumstances where players decide to run away in the middle of the night and we can't control that. But players should honour the contracts they have signed and if they wanna **** off elsewhere at the end then do so at that point.
