At heart, we're all fans of footy who want what's bets for our game. There's never a shortage of people willing to point out the flaws, deficiencies and ugly wrinkles. We here it all the time "the refs are a joke", "the game is getting soft", crowds, off-field misbehaviour, etc, etc, etc.
So here comes the bit where I want you to put your 'custodian' hat on ...
- What would the NRL look/be like if things were 'perfect' ?
- Will there ever be a time when the game has things 'just right' ?
- What has to happen before you're satisfied things are heading in the right direction ?
Some points to get your minds thinking.
- Annual growth of average crowd sizes and memberships across all clubs.
- All 16 clubs operating without 'debt' and posts an operating profit annually.
- Annual growth in junior participation.
- A 24hr/7d rugby league TV channel.
- A complete overhaul of draws.
- Establishment of a two-conference table.
- A televised national knockout competition including 2nd tier teams, and regional entrants.
- Pathways for former/injured players to become refs.
