SUCKED IN SHARKS! I always thought Ricky was a great coach. I'm not so sure anymore after reading this.

People raved about Cronulla's signings, but in essence they only signed Tupou and lost three players of greater value to the players they signed.

De Gois > Hughes
Kimmorley > Barrett
Bird > Maitua

No matter what people think of Bird's off-field antics he was one of the top half dozen NRL players. Gallen as we're all seeing now is useless, but got bracketed in with Bird as some great combination. Bird was the footballer out of the two of them.

Losing De Gois and Kimmorley has been huge and their two replacements are no where near the standard of them.

Agreed. I have never understood the hype around Barrett. Really overrated IMO. I can tell you why they don't score many points.

It's their backs.

You look at the backs and there is really no speed. Covell is the slowest winger in the comp, we saw how Goodwin adn Morris caught Talapapa, Blake Ferguson is apparently very quick but I haven't seen such thing yet and Pomeroy is slow.

You can't expect to score points if your backline doesn't have pace. Too bad for Cronulla. Honestly, I don't like them. Dirty team.

Phil Rothfield is a Cronulla supporter and just another Telecrap reporter who thinks he knows it all, like the way he says " I have argued and argued with Ricky about Kimmorley" who is he the CEO! Ricky has had a while to put a team together and has let his mobile players go and kept his physical and slow players and signed more slow players. His style of play is to belt the other side and hope they make mistakes so they can score.

Also Cronulla has NO culture and will struggle to win a comp in the next 50 years, even if they buy the best players on the planet.

Tupou has been a great buy though and has been their best player every game. His defence has been outstanding and his involvement in losing causes make him unlucky to be on a losing team. He has been a real standout despite how atrocious they have been and is the only player on that whole team that has looked like doing anything in attack.
