When I played (very badly TBH) there were weight beaks such as under 10 stone, 12 stone, 16 stone etc then it went unlimited. This kept the weight differences to a minimum, good to see the junior leagues returning to that.

We are continually witnessing the dilution of the talent pool and as a result the quality of the matches are suffering. It is unfortunate that one of the few solutions would be to reduce the number of teams which would create a stronger competition but the downside to this is that it would be unfair to supporters to lose their team. V'landys in his wisdom thinks the solution is to add another team to further dilute the playing pool which in turn creates more lop sided results because most of the talent want to be successful and will migrate toward the teams constantly making the top 2 or 3 positions whereas teams 10th to 17th will always struggle to attract elite players. The ridiculous 6 again rule has ruined the game, another team will decimate it. Time for Mr V'landys to butt out of the running of the game or move on , as he clearly has no idea of rugby league or its' mechanics.

They were going to try weight differences and didn't go ahead with it, people cried it was racist.
So you can still have a 40kg kid running into 100kg kid. Nothing has changed.

The way that is applied in our local competitions is that "light" payers can play 1 year under their age and "heavy" players have to play 1 year older than their age. With up to 2 year spacing based on individual player weight it has reduced the weight discrepancy a lot, not perfectly of course, but it is step in the right direction.

Covid greatly hampering the lower grades has stunted the progress of a lot of juniors, which hasn't helped. Many are being thrust into fg when having not played a game for long periods. The new nrl rules have increased injuries and suspension putting more pressure on clubs to play reserves who are underdone.

To be honest. My boy is concentrating on his career now. But at one stage was with Knights development pathways, Aus swimming program, Nsw Swim program and Nsw athletic with Payne hass. Payne was not a swimmer but.
The kicker he was also with the Swans he never played a game but they reached out to him since he was 12 untill 18 to be in there program identified as a high performance athlete from other sports.
He is 21 now and career and girlfriend is his goals.
The kids tgat are any good are getting poached by other sports. 2 his good mates where poached to rugby scholarship with school and accomodation included. For less financial families this is massive. Even the riff loose them from Matt’s to rugby schools.
The game needs to change its modeling on development to keep the good ones. If they change it yes there will be some average kids kept with the good kids. But better to keep couple extra than loose couple to rugby and AFL

Problem is out here in the riff, most p/I boys play both, union and league, holding penrith to ransom, and panthers are dumb enough to fall for it. They loose Many good players because of these boys doing this. Panthers are also really bad for wearing beer googles, picking large kids with no motor or skill. Even Ryan Papenheyzen was a penrith junior, overlooked by the idiots and ended up at tigers junior reps. The list of big names that this happens with is huge.
The other thing they do at harold Matt's and sg ball is shoe horn shit country kids into these sides, very few are ok, the majority are shit. Good local juniors go play elsewhere. They actually weakend their harold Matt's 2020 unbeaten favourites to 2021 finished 3rd or 4th. Remember covid 19 hit so they done 2 years of harold Matt's
They think there shit don't stink penrith. Full of dumb school teacher coaches that look after there own student's. Picking them over others.
