These New Year's resolutions are popular every year:

Lose Weight
Volunteer to Help Others
Quit Smoking
Get a Better Education
Get a Better Job
Save Money
Get Fit
Eat Healthy Food
Manage Stress
Manage Debt
Take a Trip
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
Drink Less Alcohol

My New Year's resolution is to become a better person and husband, to try and be more understanding towards my family and friends and to try and ride out the 2014 rugby league season with humility and pride rather than search for reasons and people to blame for any bulldog losses.

What is your New Year's Resolution for 2014 ?

I never make new year resolutions, imo a specific date shouldn't determine your goals and aspirations. You should just start them whenever you've set them.

I always ask people if they set goals this year what were they? And did you achieve them?

I always reflect back on my year and see what's been achieved, and my hight lights.

For myself it's been.

*Travelled to Philippines
*Travelled to the America and did the whole Vegas thing
*Close friends weddings
*Best man speech
*Got to single digits body fat

Those have been my personal highlights and achievements of the year

Like the first post, I am going to try and be a better husband to my wife, I have not always been what I should be and am determined to turn it around.

Tone, I respect what you said.

I've decided after 3 and a half decades, I'm gonna choose my resolutions retro-actively.

So you take something you learned from 2013, and apply it to 2014.

(1) Don't buy extra concert tickets : I bought 3 tickets thing "oh, I better get some because everyone will want to go". In the end, at the last minute, I bought along a 2x mates to a gig for a band they had absolutely no interest in. Being next to them as they endured my obscure tastes made me very self-conscious.

But it gets worse ... as penance for my sins, I had the favour returned. One of those mates needed me to come at the last minute to a particular gig for a solo-artist I otherwise would sneer at. Fearing karma, I went. And hated every minute.

Resolution = No more extra tickets in 2014.

(2) Measure yourself before buying clothes online : Bought 2x band shirts. When they arrived, they were good for one wear, before a small amount of shrinkage ensured they'd be better suited on some nubile 16yo girl with no waist.

Resolution for 2014 = Buy my own tape-measure.

(3) Keep a dedicated ledger of punt activity : There were two occasions where I had to dispute bet outcomes (one was operator error, the other was incorrect market paid out). There were some tipster who I've learned a lot from in the last year, and intend on following them long term.

Resolution for 2014 = After a good 2013, I'm in for the long haul : Keep keeping records, start tracking tipster strike rates and subscribe to the two I already like.
