the Titans have 3 former Aussie schoolboy halves in the club (Sexton, Boyd, Weaver), maybe getting one of these on the cheap (preferably not boyd) as well as trindall could be the go. If nothing else Sexton would provide a guaranteed short kicking game. There's also a decision to be made at Storms in the next 12 months between hughes and pezet, the loser of this would be good for us.
I believe Anasta manages Pezet. Could be a useful pawn.

I agree with you mate, it would be huge if we could land him, his experience that he’d pass on would be priceless and I’d be offering a post footy deal for him to stay on as our specialist half’s coach ..

But that’s plan A .. this is about plan B .. we can’t keep crossing the fingers and hoping a young kid can all of a sudden find the talent & maturity we need to lead us around the park .. these kids should be coming off the bench and being brought in gradually when we’re in front ..
Agreed about Hunt staying on post footy IF by chance we do sign him in the first place. He needs to be coaching our young'uns on an ongoing basis. Otherwise it'd be a waste. In the past we had Goey Johns working with us for a stint and helped to a degree. But I don't think Noddy stuck around after retirement, which would've been handy also.

As for Trindall, I'm pretty sure he said he was happy to wait it out in reserves when he re-signed with the Sharks?

All good points … we desperately need experience, and our half’s definitely need an experienced specialist half’s coach ..

Not sure Trindall would have thought Hynes would turn out as good as he has in the 7 position when he re-signed .. not many did ..

Either way when you’re only a back up, a lot more money, a contract that gives a player confidence, and a guaranteed 1st grade starting position speaks volumes ..

Lot of fans on here pinning their hopes on us getting Hunt ..

Are there any reliable sources saying we’re a true chance of getting him, or is it all just our hopes and desperate want for a 7 that’s driving this.

Personally I feel it’s a long shot, they’d be crazy to let him go and run with their inexperienced young half’s … Flanagan will be the new coach and I can see him persuading him to stay, they might even bump his money a bit.

If he did want out, we’d also be competing with other clubs, Raiders will be cashed up with Wighton’s money .. Titans even Bronco’s or Dolphins might throw good money at him ..

So if we don’t land him what’s plan B .. because it’s GroundHog day again next season without a specialist 7 ..

I feel Gus should be going after Trindall, he’s stuck behind Hynes who owns that position for years, he’s not a 6 so he won’t be taking over from Moylan who will prob play on for another 2 years anyway.

Throw some good money at Trindall, guaranteed 1st grade spot and a contract that shows trust, and I believe we’d get him ..

No he’s not elite, but he has a huge boot, good game management skills, and can lead a team around the park .. and with more game time over the next 2 years he just might become elite … plus he’s a tough little dog ..

We’re not going anywhere without an aggressive powerful forward pack or a game managing 7 .. Trindall can be that 7 ..

If you think Trindall’s shit, what’s your plan B …
Plan B?
Sign a proven HB at any cost.
I dont even like Hunt but hes a proven 7.
We havent had a FB or HB in many years.
Every HB we have rushed and tried to develop in first grade hasnt worked out.
Continuing the trend into 2024 I feel will be another year of hopes and low expectations.
Every year its wait till 2022, wait till 2023, 2024 will be our year and on and on it goes. As this year rolls on soon it will be 2025 and 2026.

Proven 7 is a must, needs to be the number 1 priority.

Suppose we will have to wait another couple of months to see what Gus thinks.

As much as Burton needs help on the halves, getting a fullback who has pace/and or can pass and engage defenders which creates space for outside backs would go a long way to opening up our attack.

Look at the impact guys like Turbo, Bula, Brimson and even CNK have made so far this round. When we had Barba at his peak he made Kris Keating look good.

With Critta coming next year hopefully that helps open up the attack even if we don't make a splashy halfback signing.

Forwards win games.
Until we have a dominant pack and bench, we will struggle.
We lack depth.
